In support of this mission, the Sr. System Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of the information technology infrastructure which requires working with servers, SAN and network switches, storage, software and other technologies to support the organization. The Systems Administrator assists with overall systems administration which requires proficiency in several disciplines. The Sr. System Administrator must maintain and continually improve the environment to provide the highest levels of service to the user base. The Sr. Systems Administrator will be required to assess performance of systems to make adjustments, provide capacity planning and growth projections, and perform software installations and upgrades. The Sr. System Administrator works both individually and in teams to maintain the operation of various sites. Business operation demands 24/7/365 continuous up time so this individual must be able to perform overtime when needed including holidays and weekends. Continuously changing software and hardware platforms require ongoing training and self-directed learning to maintain skill sets. Based on the functions of the Sr. System Administrator position the incumbent will have Administrative level rights, access to sensitive and confidential information, and must always exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • 10+ years of enterprise-level systems administration experience
  • 5+ years working in a VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environment
  • 5+ years administering Microsoft technologies including Azure, Active Directory, and Exchange/O365

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, or related field
  • Experience with Systems Center Suite, Intune, and Microsoft 365
  • Advanced virtualization expertise (VMware VSAN, SRM, NSX)
  • Experience with VMware HCX for hybrid-cloud connectivity, workload mobility, and large-scale datacenter migration.
  • Familiarity with enterprise storage: NAS, iSCSI, SAN, and fiber channel technologies
  • Experience with backup platforms: NetBackup, Networker, DataDomain, Avamar, etc.
  • Exposure to enterprise antivirus platforms and centralized management tools
  • Experience with Citrix XenApp/Desktop and Citrix NetScaler
  • Technical certifications (e.g., MCP, MCTS, MCITP)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and optimize server environments, storage systems (NAS/SAN), and core infrastructure
  • Configure and support virtualization platforms including VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
  • Support disaster recovery solutions (e.g., VRMS, SRM, NSX)
  • Support hybrid datacenter migrations and workload mobility using VMware HCX, including network extension, service mesh configuration, and multi-site operational continuity.
  • Administer directory services including Active Directory, Group Policy, and role-based security permissions
  • Manage backup systems and ensure data recoverability across all platforms
  • Document all systems and configurations for audit and operational continuity
  • Support Microsoft 365 collaboration tools, including Teams, Exchange, and OneDrive
  • Administer endpoint platforms including Intune, SCCM, and WSUS
  • Maintain core applications such as SharePoint and SQL Server
  • Monitor and manage hybrid cloud services in Azure and Microsoft 365
  • Lead the deployment of new infrastructure systems (hardware and software)
  • Contribute to architectural design and systems planning
  • Configure production systems and support onboarding of new technologies
  • Conduct user training and transition support for enterprise rollouts
  • Assist with Tier-2/3 help desk tickets and infrastructure troubleshooting
  • Maintain operational readiness through certifications, ongoing training, and industry engagement
  • Collaborate on projects and long-term departmental initiatives
