About The Position

The City of Huntsville’s I.T.S. department is seeking qualified applicants to fill our Senior Systems Administrator position. This is technical work related to computer servers, networks and related software/hardware. This position is responsible for effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of server systems software/hardware and related infrastructure in a Microsoft Windows based network. Work also includes supporting the City by planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, maintenance and testing of personal computers and server software/hardware across LAN or WAN networks. Provides end-user technical support for off-the-shelf applications, custom applications, desktop operating systems and server operating systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment supplemental application.
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment polygraph examination.
• Must pass a fingerprint background check.

Nice To Haves

• Current certification in Microsoft methodologies (i.e., MCSA, MCSE)
• Knowledge, training, or experience with VMware software
• Experience with server virtualization and Storage Area Network (SAN) technology
• Five (5) years of current Microsoft Windows System Administrator work experience
