Senior System Integration Engineer - Enterprise Transformation

General Motors•Austin, TX
•$202,000 - $310,000

About The Position

As a Senior Systems Integration Engineer – Enterprise Transformation, you will design, build, and scale enterprise integrations and data pipelines that modernize how systems work together across GM. Working from the Software/Core IT side of the transformation, you will connect Google Workspace, SaaS platforms, enterprise AI tools, and GM’s core business systems through secure, reusable, and scalable integration patterns. You will independently deliver complex integration solutions, translate business and technical requirements into practical system designs, and build production-ready pipelines aligned with enterprise standards. You will partner with product, engineering, TPM, security, and business teams to enable reliable data flow, workflow continuity, and platform interoperability across GM. The role establishes reusable GCP-native integration templates and patterns, applies enterprise data, identity, and security guardrails, and partners with Security, Privacy, Identity, and ILM teams on sensitive or regulated workflows. It evaluates integration requests and selects an appropriate technical approach, while designing and maintaining APIs, webhooks, middleware, and data pipelines connecting GCP with Workday, ServiceNow, and internal systems. The role also supports modernization and phased coexistence across Microsoft, GCP, and internal environments, including cutover planning, validation, stabilization, and long-term sustainment. The position provides technical leadership through design reviews, architecture guidance, and engineering best practices. It produces technical designs, dependency maps, runbooks, and handover materials, and collaborates with Product Leads and Technical Program Managers to integrate GCP-native capabilities into operational processes. This job may be eligible for relocation benefits. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role. For California-only roles, the listed salary range is $202,000–$310,000 per year, with potential incentive pay; the compensation information is a good-faith estimate and may vary by location and other factors.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in integration engineering, platform architecture, enterprise application integration, or software engineering in complex corporate environments.
  • Hands-on experience architecting and building enterprise pipelines using Google Cloud integration products such as Apigee API Management, Google Cloud Application Integration, Pub/Sub, or Cloud Functions.
  • Proven ability to map dependencies across SaaS applications, data layers, identity services, and business processes in large enterprise environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Deep technical knowledge integrating GCP with platforms such as Workday and ServiceNow using REST/SOAP APIs, web services, and integration hubs.
  • Production-level proficiency in Python and core scripting or automation frameworks.
  • Extensive experience with REST APIs, webhooks, middleware solutions, and event-driven architecture patterns.
  • Strong understanding of Git-based version control, CI/CD pipelines, and debugging distributed integration issues across hybrid environments.
  • Deep knowledge of enterprise authentication, authorization, and identity frameworks, such as GCP IAM, OAuth2, SAML, and OIDC.
  • Proven history of successful collaboration with product managers, engineering teams, TPMs, security leads, and business stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining technical trade-offs, architectural risks, and engineering decisions to non-technical partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Active professional-level Google Cloud certification, such as Professional Cloud Architect or Professional Cloud Integration Engineer.
  • Direct experience supporting large-scale Microsoft 365 to Google Workspace migration or platform coexistence programs.
  • Technical familiarity with Google Workspace administration, Google Workspace APIs, Google Apps Script, and AppSheet.
  • Experience connecting enterprise workflows to modern data and AI ecosystems such as Gemini Enterprise, BigQuery, Dataflow, Glean, Slack, and Databricks.
  • Familiarity with corporate data retention, ILM, privacy frameworks, and regulated data controls in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Experience supporting automated testing, complex cutover planning, data validation, hypercare support, and long-term sustainment models.

Responsibilities

  • Define and build reusable GCP-native integration templates, accelerators, and reference implementations.
  • Align integration architectures with enterprise data standards, identity guidelines, and security policies.
  • Partner with Security, Privacy, Identity, and Information Lifecycle Management teams to secure workflows involving regulated or sensitive data.
  • Evaluate integration requests and recommend standard SaaS configuration, GCP-native services, or custom engineering as appropriate.
  • Design, build, and maintain APIs, webhooks, and middleware pipelines connecting GCP with Workday, ServiceNow, and core internal systems.
  • Define source-to-destination data mappings, transformation logic, exception handling, and monitoring models.
  • Modernize legacy and Microsoft-dependent interfaces into scalable, event-driven, Google-aligned integration patterns.
  • Build end-to-end workflows that orchestrate data movement and trigger actions across HR, IT, and internal enterprise ecosystems.
  • Design coexistence approaches for interoperability among Microsoft, GCP, and internal environments during phased migrations.
  • Coordinate data cutover sequencing, permissions validation, metadata mapping, and post-deployment stabilization.
  • Partner with Product Leads and Technical Program Managers to embed GCP-native integration capabilities into operational processes.
  • Provide technical leadership through design reviews, architecture guidance, and engineering best practices.
  • Deliver technical designs, dependency maps, runbooks, and handover materials for long-term sustainment.

Benefits

  • The job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
  • Incentive pay program with payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance (California-only salary information).
  • Benefits supporting employee well-being at work and at home; specific benefits are described in GM Total Rewards resources.
