•$114,346 - $130,681

About The Position

STV is seeking a System Integration Engineer to join its Systems team in Bellevue, Washington. The role supports the planning, design, coordination, and integration of complex rail and transit systems, particularly the interfaces between civil infrastructure and rail systems. The engineer will collaborate with civil, structural, track, electrical, and systems engineering teams to identify and manage technical interfaces throughout the design process. The position supports integration activities through preliminary engineering, final design, and construction-phase services, as applicable. It includes developing and reviewing systems engineering documentation, coordinating design reviews and multidisciplinary activities, identifying and resolving interface issues, and helping maintain consistency between system requirements and design deliverables. Experience developing system designs, plans, specifications, and estimates for traction power, overhead contact systems (OCS), train control, or communications is highly preferred. The compensation range is $114,345.69–$130,680.78. The final offer may vary based on factors including geography, education, experience, and certifications.

Requirements

  • Relevant professional experience supporting the design, integration, or coordination of rail, transit, transportation, or other complex infrastructure systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with system interfaces and multidisciplinary design integration, particularly between civil infrastructure and rail systems.
  • Understanding of engineering design development, including plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Experience coordinating across multiple engineering disciplines and resolving technical interface issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate complex technical relationships between systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document technical requirements clearly and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical interfaces, priorities, and project deliverables simultaneously.

  • Experience developing or reviewing design plans, technical specifications, and engineering estimates.
  • Experience with interface management, systems integration, systems engineering, or requirements management on multidisciplinary transportation projects.
  • Familiarity with interactions between rail systems and civil elements such as track, structures, stations, utilities, and facilities.
  • Experience supporting large transit, commuter rail, light rail, or passenger rail infrastructure programs.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Support integration and coordination of rail and transit systems with civil and infrastructure design.
  • Identify, define, document, and manage technical interfaces between systems, subsystems, and engineering disciplines.

  • Review engineering designs to identify interface requirements, conflicts, gaps, and potential integration risks.
  • Support development and review of plans, specifications, and estimates for rail systems projects.
  • Participate in system-level design reviews and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
  • Assist in developing interface requirements, interface control documentation, design criteria, technical memoranda, and other systems engineering documentation.
  • Coordinate with engineers and technical specialists responsible for traction power, OCS, train control, communications, and other rail systems.
  • Support resolution of design interface issues throughout project development.
  • Assist project teams in maintaining consistency between system requirements and engineering design deliverables.
  • Support design integration activities through preliminary engineering, final design, and construction-phase services, as applicable.
