About The Position

A leading company in the wireless broadband communications industry is seeking a Senior System Engineer / Architect specializing in data center switches. The role focuses on designing and validating data center network fabrics, evaluating switch hardware and vendors, automating network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and reliability, integrating security controls, and troubleshooting network performance issues. The position requires deep expertise in data center networking protocols and network operating systems, along with scripting and automation skills. Candidates should have 5 to 10+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise or hyperscale data center networking, switch architecture, or platform engineering. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field is required.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in Layer 2/Layer 3 networking protocols, including BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, OSPF, and IPv6.
  • Proficiency with network operating systems such as SONiC, Cisco NX-OS, Arista EOS, or Cumulus.
  • Scripting and automation skills using Python, Go, or shell scripting, plus experience with container and Linux environments.
  • 5 to 10+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise or hyperscale data center networking, switch architecture, or platform engineering.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and validate spine-leaf, Clos, and VXLAN/EVPN overlay fabrics for high east-west traffic.
  • Lead build-versus-buy assessments, compare merchant silicon with custom ASICs, and select core and top-of-rack (ToR) switches.
  • Drive zero-touch provisioning (ZTP), telemetry, and configuration management using Python, Ansible, or NDFC.
  • Design redundant routing and switching protocols, including BGP, OSPF, and EVPN, to meet service-level agreements and reliability, availability, and serviceability goals.
  • Implement micro-segmentation, access control lists (ACLs), and enterprise firewall architectures aligned with zero-trust models.
  • Perform deep-packet analysis, buffer tuning, congestion control, and root-cause analysis for complex network incidents.
