Senior Data Center Solution Architect

LayerZero Power Systems Inc•Raleigh, IL
•$155,000 - $165,000

About The Position

LayerZero Power Systems designs and manufactures mission-critical power distribution and power quality infrastructure for data centers, cloud, and enterprise networks. The Senior Data Center Solution Architect owns customer system design for hyperscale and enterprise power solutions, spanning STS, PDU, RPP, hybrid AC/DC, and emerging 800 VDC architectures. The role leads solution architecture for customer data center power projects from concept through commissioning, translating reliability, redundancy, and capacity requirements into detailed designs. It serves as a senior technical advisor to sales, engineering, and strategic data center operators, while developing reference architectures for high rack power densities, future AI workloads, and emerging power systems. The architect works with internal and external partners to align engineering standards and technology roadmaps, and helps advance modular, factory-built, and skidded electrical systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years in data center power, critical infrastructure, or electrical systems design.
  • Deep knowledge of power distribution, redundancy, and uptime architectures.
  • Experience engaging hyperscale and enterprise data center operators.
  • Strong communication skills across technical and executive audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with HVDC and direct-current distribution.
  • Experience with STS, PDU, and RPP product families.
  • Exposure to DCIM, SCADA, and power monitoring platforms.
  • Familiarity with electrification startup and commissioning.
  • Familiarity with data center engineering firms and trades.
  • Familiarity with utility power generation and BTM generation.
  • Experience with standards and participation in Open Compute Project or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Own customer system design and reliability for power solutions.
  • Design and evolve data center electrical infrastructure where the LayerZero portfolio applies.
  • Lead solution architecture for customer data center power projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Translate customer reliability, redundancy, and capacity requirements into detailed technical designs.
  • Serve as the senior technical advisor to sales, engineering, and strategic data center operators.
  • Develop AC, hybrid AC/DC, and 800 VDC reference architectures, and evaluate future 1500 VDC options.
  • Guide integration of monitoring, DCIM, and SCADA into deployed solutions.
  • Review one-line diagrams, load studies, busway/PDU topologies, and reliability models.
  • Partner with compliance and DC engineering on protection, isolation, certification, and site acceptance.
  • Participate in OCP, NEMA, and IEEE standards groups related to data center power.
  • Develop reference architectures supporting high rack power densities, future AI workloads, and emerging power systems.
  • Lead adoption of modular, factory-built, and skidded electrical systems to accelerate deployment, improve quality, and reduce lifecycle costs.
  • Work with design, product, construction, supply chain, manufacturing, and OEM partners to align engineering standards and technology roadmaps.
  • Coordinate with pre-sales and technical teams to translate architectural guidance into customer-specific solutions.
  • Validate designs against NVIDIA or other vendor reference architectures for AI/HPC data centers.
