Data Center Switch – Senior System Engineer / Architect

Wistron NeWeb Corporation•Irvine, CA

About The Position

A leading company in the wireless broadband communications industry is seeking a Senior System Engineer / Architect for data center switching. The role focuses on architecting and validating data center network fabrics, evaluating switching hardware, automating network infrastructure, and ensuring network reliability, security, and performance. The engineer will work with spine-leaf, Clos, and VXLAN/EVPN overlay architectures; assess switch designs and vendors; drive zero-touch provisioning and configuration management; design high-availability routing and switching; integrate zero-trust security; and investigate complex network performance issues.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking protocols, including BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, OSPF, and IPv6.
  • Proficiency with network operating systems such as SONiC, Cisco NX-OS, Arista EOS, or Cumulus.
  • Scripting and automation skills in Python, Go, or shell scripting, plus experience with container and Linux environments.
  • 5+ to 10+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise or hyperscale data center networking, switch architecture, or platform engineering.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and validate spine-leaf, Clos, and VXLAN/EVPN overlay fabrics to support high east-west traffic.
  • Lead build-versus-buy assessments, merchant-silicon versus custom-ASIC analysis, and vendor selection for core and top-of-rack switches.
  • Drive zero-touch provisioning, telemetry, and configuration management using Python, Ansible, or NDFC.
  • Design redundant routing and switching protocols to meet service-level agreements and reliability, availability, and serviceability goals.
  • Implement micro-segmentation, access control lists, and enterprise firewall architectures aligned with zero-trust models.
  • Conduct deep-packet analysis, buffer tuning, and congestion control, and perform root-cause analysis for complex network incidents.
