SS-Senior Swim Instructor
About The Position
SafeSplash is seeking a Senior Swim Instructor to oversee the training and continued education of swim instructors. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this role helps maintain a safe, engaging, and exceptional experience for students, parents, and staff. The position provides initial and ongoing staff training, monitors certifications and training milestones, supervises instructors and lifeguards, and coaches instructors on curriculum and teaching practices. It also supports safety compliance and customer experience, including helping instructors communicate swimmers’ progress to parents. The role is on-site and requires 20 or more hours per week, with seasonality potentially affecting hours. Weekday, weeknight, and weekend availability is required.
Requirements
- Experience in swimming instruction is required.
- Minimum of 6 months of teaching swim lessons at SafeSplash Swim School is preferred.
- Supervisor or team leadership experience in aquatics, education, or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, adapt, and take initiative.
- Comfort working around water and interacting with children and parents.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and remain on feet for long periods.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications are required within 30 days of hire; training is available.
- Lifeguard certification, training, and instructing are required within 90 days; training is available.
- Availability to work weekdays, weeknights, and weekends.

Responsibilities
- Provide initial training for new staff and ongoing training for team members.
- Ensure required staff certifications are obtained, current, and compliant.
- Track and manage employee training, onboarding, certifications, in-services, renewals, and development milestones.
- Supervise instructors and lifeguards to ensure high-quality lessons and compliance with safety and brand standards.
- Coach and mentor instructors in and out of the water.
- Assist instructors in the water with curriculum challenges.
- Conduct quarterly in-services for continued education.
- Provide constructive feedback through evaluations or immediate coaching.
- Collaborate with management to determine training needs.
- Ensure customer safety and report unsafe activities, equipment, or instruction to management.
- Immediately provide feedback when instructors do not meet curriculum safety requirements.
- Address customer inquiries and help ensure an exceptional product and swimmers’ progress.
- Assist instructors with communicating children’s progress to parents.
