About The Position

The Senior Swim Instructor oversees the training and continued education of swim instructors and helps maintain a safe, engaging, high-quality experience for students, parents, and staff. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this role trains and coaches instructors, supports curriculum implementation, monitors safety and brand standards, and helps ensure swimmers progress and families receive effective communication.

Requirements

• Experience in swimming instruction is required.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, adapt, and take initiative.
• Comfort working around water and interacting with children and parents.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and remain on one's feet for long periods.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications are required within 30 days of hire; training is available.
• Lifeguard certification, training, and instructing are required within 90 days; training is available.

Nice To Haves

• At least 6 months of teaching swim lessons at SafeSplash Swim School.
• Supervisor or team leadership experience in aquatics, education, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide initial training for new staff and ongoing training for all team members to strengthen skills and maintain current standards.
• Ensure required staff certifications are obtained, current, and compliant.
• Track and manage the employee training lifecycle, including onboarding, certifications, in-services, renewals, and development milestones.
• Supervise instructors and lifeguards to ensure high-quality lessons and adherence to safety and brand standards.
• Coach and mentor instructors in and out of the water, including helping them address curriculum challenges.
• Conduct quarterly in-services for continued education.
• Provide constructive feedback through evaluations or immediate coaching.
• Collaborate with the management team to determine training needs.
• Protect customer safety and report unsafe activities, equipment, or instruction to management.
• Promptly address instruction that does not meet curriculum safety requirements, including safety distances, holds, and turning backs.
• Address customer inquiries and help ensure an exceptional product and swimmer progress.
• Help instructors communicate with parents about their children's progress.
