This role is responsible for sourcing, validating, and releasing brake controllers for production. The engineer will address all controller and system safety concerns, lead and support product issue investigations, and drive continuous process improvements. Key activities include gathering documentation for sourcing, providing technical expertise during purchasing, facilitating design reviews with suppliers and internal teams, and managing controller requirement documents. The position also involves organizing and leading Controller Product Development Team (PDT) meetings, investigating software-related issues, owning and releasing software for development and production, and managing part number proliferation. The engineer will create and manage controller validation plans, coordinate testing activities including regulatory, subsystem integration, system safety, and cybersecurity testing, and ensure suppliers meet key milestones. They will also work with suppliers to develop Validation Cross Reference Index (VCRIs), author validation requirements, issue part salable status, monitor design changes in production, conduct warranty analysis, and lead annual validation requirements. Supplier and vehicle assembly plant visits are required. Additionally, the role includes training and mentoring other team members on the roles of a Controls DRE. This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days in-office and 2 days remote, with the ability to report to a local office.
