About The Position

Pennoni Associates is seeking a Licensed Surveyor with relevant experience for their Berryville, VA office. This role involves performing complex survey calculations, analyzing survey data, preparing various types of maps and plats, and researching existing data for projects. The position requires effective coordination and communication with team members, writing and reviewing legal descriptions, and making and documenting surveying decisions. The successful candidate will prepare client deliverables, ensure quality control, and be responsible for technical performance on projects. This role also includes guiding and mentoring survey analysts and technicians, reviewing their work, and marketing the Land Surveying Team to expand the client base. There is a desire for this individual to become the Land Surveying Department Manager in a few years, working closely with the current Survey Division Manager during a transition period. The role requires the ability to work for multiple Civil Design PMs from different offices.

Requirements

2-5 years post-registration as a Licensed Land Surveyor in the State of VA.
Thorough knowledge of land surveying principles and practices.
Proficient with Carlson Land Surveying, Civil 3D CADD software with three years of experience.
Successful history of project/task management on public and private projects as well as Site Development and ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys.
Proven experience providing excellent customer service and meeting project schedules.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Skill in planning, organizing, and managing multiple work assignments concurrently.
Familiar with engineering design and construction practices.
Strong organizational, time management, attention to detail, and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Offer constructive feedback and direction to support project goals.
Ability to multi-task and efficiently respond to changing priorities.
Proficient with field equipment and standard field procedures.

Nice To Haves

WV and DC as additional licenses helpful for this office.
Desire to become the Land Surveying Department Manager in a couple of years.
General experience dealing directly with clients and managing projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform complex survey/geomatics calculations and analysis of survey data for preparing survey maps, plats, and right of way mapping.
Compile and research existing data for projects as needed to efficiently complete survey requirements.
Coordinate and assist in preparing project estimates and schedules.
Analyze deeds, title reports, and other research materials for the production of survey maps and reports.
Effective coordination and communication with other team members.
Write and review legal descriptions.
Complete assignments in a timely and efficient manner.
Make surveying decisions and document the same in survey reports.
Prepare or direct preparation of client deliverables.
Ensure QC process has been completed prior to survey products submission.
Responsible for technical performance on small projects and/or designated tasks on large projects.
Guides, mentors and directs survey analysts and technicians in the completion of their assignments.
Review field notes, daily records, and data/results received from survey staff.
Market the Land Surveying Team and Expand Existing Client Base.
Work with and beside current Survey Division Manager through transition.
Must have the ability to work for multiple Civil Design PM’s from multiple offices.
