About The Position

John Tillman Company, a division of Bunzl, is seeking a Senior Supply Chain Manager for our office in Cerritos, CA. The Senior Supply Chain Manager provides strategic leadership and oversight of all Purchasing, Procurement, and Logistics functions. This role is responsible for developing a high‑performing supply chain that supports company growth, ensures continuity of supply, and optimizes cost, quality, and service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in import procurement within a distribution or manufacturing environment.
  • 10+ years of experience managing teams with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems; ability to analyze demand and execute purchase orders, SAGE X3 preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of import logistics, customs brokerage, duties, tariffs, and international supplier management.
  • Expert knowledge of ocean and over‑the‑road (OTR) freight logistics.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong negotiation skills and a deep understanding of sourcing best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of forecasting, planning/scheduling, logistics, and offshore supplier management.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and business/financial acumen.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence across teams.
  • High energy level with a proactive, solutions‑oriented approach.
  • 10% + domestic/international travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience sourcing leather and/or PPE products preferred.
  • Spanish or Mandarin language skills a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage company purchasing activities to ensure quality, delivery, compliance, and specification standards are consistently met.
  • Develop and execute supply chain strategies to strengthen supplier performance, diversify sourcing, and reduce organizational risk.
  • Lead major projects and cross‑functional strategic initiatives with authority to drive change and improve overall supply chain performance.
  • Source new suppliers globally and domestically; conduct negotiations on pricing, terms, and service levels.
  • Develop new sources of supply in lower‑risk regions to support a resilient supply chain.
  • Evaluate supplier performance, identify risk areas, and implement corrective action or mitigation plans as needed.
  • Prepare and manage competitive bidding processes; evaluate bids and select suppliers based on strategic, financial, and operational criteria.
  • Oversee the return, rework, or replacement of defective materials with accountability for supplier resolution.
  • Collaborate with internal partners (Sales, Customer Service, Product Development, Warehousing, Accounting) to optimize working capital, forecasting accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to create accurate demand forecasts and ensure supply plans align with inventory and service strategies.
  • Manage import logistics, including coordination with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and global suppliers.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing team with progressive responsibility.
