•$115,000 - $190,000•Onsite

About The Position

As an early member of Antares’ supply chain team, the Senior Supply Chain Engineer will define and execute the strategic roadmap needed to support the company’s progress from prototyping into full-rate production. The role focuses on identifying, qualifying, and developing suppliers across many commodities; maturing fragile or nonexistent supply chains; collaborating with engineering teams on design for manufacturability; and establishing processes and systems that can scale with the business. As part of a growing company, the engineer may also take on work outside the supply chain function. The position calls for someone who can work effectively in an ambiguous environment, balance competing priorities, and contribute to significant and complex challenges. Antares is based in Torrance, California, in a 322,000-square-foot facility with areas for collaboration, research and development, and production. The role may require long hours and weekend work to support critical milestones, as well as travel of up to 40% to interface with suppliers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, math, physics, or a related field and at least 3 years of experience in design or manufacturing engineering, supplier development or supplier quality, or supply chain management; alternatively, at least 5 years of experience in one or more of those fields without the stated degree requirement.
  • Ability to work long hours and weekends as necessary to support critical milestones.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% when necessary to interface with suppliers.
  • For compliance with U.S. Government export regulations, applicants must meet the stated U.S. citizenship, residency, refugee, or asylee criteria, or be eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 3 years of experience in supply chain management or manufacturing for complex systems and assemblies.
  • At least 3 years of experience in aerospace and defense, automotive, semiconductor, or energy industries.
  • Proficiency in supply-chain-related systems, including MRP and ERP.
  • Demonstrated track record of managing diverse commodities and suppliers.
  • Broad experience across supply chain functions, including planning, procurement, supplier development, supplier quality, and logistics.
  • Proven success in a startup environment or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Define the initial strategic roadmap for selected commodities, including machined components, electromechanical systems and controls, shielding, thermal management, turbomachinery, and fuel.
  • Identify and onboard suppliers across commodities to build a supply base capable of supporting prototyping and eventual full-rate production.
  • Collaborate with responsible and manufacturing engineering teams and suppliers to review drawings and provide design-for-manufacturing feedback.
  • Coordinate with quality teams to ensure supplier onboarding, quality, and documentation requirements comply with the Antares quality program; address nonconformances and develop supply-chain-related procedures.
  • Advise the business on make-versus-buy decisions, considering design feedback loops, product function, capital and resource investment, and manufacturing methods.
  • Create bottoms-up should-cost analyses to support commercial negotiations and supplier evaluation.
  • Develop performance metrics and reporting to identify, communicate, and manage critical-path items.
  • Execute near-term actions for prototyping and development hardware to support engineering and testing milestone schedules.
