About The Position

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is a 306-bed medical center providing care to residents of eastern Long Island. The hospital facility is home to the Knapp Cardiac Care Center, an advanced heart disease diagnostic and treatment facility, as well as a modern ambulatory surgical pavilion with specialized services including women's imaging, a sleep laboratory, and bariatric surgery. Our Provisional Level 2 Trauma Center delivers comprehensive and specialized care for patients with traumatic injuries. The Stroke Center at NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is designated by the New York State Department of Health as a Primary Stroke Center, with expert neurologists available to provide treatment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Additionally, NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk has multiple outpatient sites, including an outpatient wound care center, a hemodialysis center, and various primary care and specialty offices. This role is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Supervisor, Environmental Services - Full Time, Evenings - Monday - Friday 12:00PM - 8:00PM. In this role, the successful candidate manages staff and assists with activities necessary for the effective functioning of the department. They are responsible for directing, facilitating, and evaluating the work performance of all personnel within a defined assigned area and oversee and manage staff schedules for Environmental Support Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1 - 2 years Supervisory experience in Environmental Support Services environment.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, computer and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years Environmental Support Services experience in a Health care environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Plans work schedules and assigns adequate staff to ensure excellent service for all areas of the facility while reducing unnecessary overtime.
  • Ensures that all equipment is maintained and operational and monitors use of supplies.
  • Conducts staff training and ensures staff compliance with annual requirements.
  • Assists with interviewing and training new staff for the department.
  • Evaluates and disciplines personnel as outlined by Long Island Community hospital standards.
  • Abides with all Long Island Community hospital policies and procedures and regulatory guidelines.
  • Supports co-workers in accomplishment of daily activities and tasks necessary for meeting facility needs.
  • Conducts and participates in staff meetings and communicates policy and procedures with employees to promote consistency in department.
  • Conducts daily rounds and evaluates facility and staff performance.
  • Assists with the coordination of Environmental Support Service work projects with other departments.
  • Communicates effectively with department and employees and responds to issues that may cause problems and/or refers these issues through proper chain of command utilizing the escalation policy.
  • Documents written legibly.
  • Completes required reports.
  • Utilizes appropriate communication in all interactions: demonstrates proper phone and email etiquette.
  • Evaluates employee performance through established standards and competencies.
  • Communicates issues or recommendations for improvement to the Director and/or Manager.
  • Utilizes operating systems established for Environmental Support Services department and NYULHS
  • Understands and utilizes Epic and EVS Ready List for efficient patient flow.
  • Producing reports as needed.
  • Follows all safety practices and provides a safe environment for staff, visitors, and patients by adhering to regulatory requirements, inclusive of waste management procedures.
  • Utilize communication systems made available, CMC devices, phone, etc. to effectively communicate all service requirements are met in a timely manner.
  • Monitors and supports program designed for team cleaning practices to improve patient room cleaning and service while monitoring patient flow throughout the institution.
  • Responds to Environment of Care (EOC) issues as directed by Manager or Director of Environmental Support Services.
  • Evaluates and measures cleaning standards to meet Environmental Support services performance through daily quality checks.
  • Shares and utilizes data from customer satisfaction along with Press Ganey reports to educate staff to higher services standards.
  • Promotes NYULHS and service culture programs.

Benefits

  • The salary range for the role is $70,282.50 - $79,440.19 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
