About The Position

Provides leadership to ensure the safe, timely and efficient completion of work efforts relating to the construction, operation, maintenance, and emergency restoration of the electric distribution systems. Ensures effective coordination among and between individuals and departments in the district/division. Actively promotes and enforces a safety-first work environment and positive safety culture. Engages and motivates employees to deliver the best possible customer experience. At the Senior Supervisor level, in addition to the above, responsibilities include: Serves as the local technical lead or coach for other supervisors. Develops and coaches other supervisors in various aspects of their role. Authorizes re-allocation of resources in situations where conflicting priorities exist. Drives innovation and change in business processes. Leads area work center activities during manager absence. Represents manager at department, customer, and community meetings. This senior supervisor will work as a part of the Project Group in Western Massachusetts. This group covers work across our entire Western MA territory and will require travel between areas. This role will be responsible for overseeing both internal crews, as well as external contract resources. This Senior Supervisor provides operational oversight and execution support across all phases of assigned projects. Responsibilities include representing Operations during constructability reviews and project handoffs, conducting field site visits, and advising on permitting and regulatory requirements. The position supports contractor pre-bids and procurement activities and works closely with Materials Management to ensure materials are available and delivered in alignment with project schedules. The role collaborates with Planning and Scheduling teams to manage project schedules, track progress, and report milestone status. It is responsible for submitting required documentation, including ITOA permits, SCNs, PONS, and other project approvals, as well as requesting and managing required tags and holds. During construction, the position conducts site visits, safety observations, and field checks to ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with plans. Post-construction responsibilities include quality control reviews, as-built walkdowns, and verification of completed work. The role also reviews and approves contractor invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance with contractual and project requirements.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of methods, work practices, and procedures regarding the safe construction, operation, and maintenance of electric T&D facilities and infrastructure at both secondary and primary operating voltages.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must maintain switching and tagging qualifications.
  • Strong knowledge of computers and related technology and ability to learn and utilize available information technologies.
  • Ability to use PC desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Word & Excel).
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related experience is required.
  • Minimum of eight (8) or more years of related experience is required.
  • Previous supervisory experience is required.
  • Valid Motor Vehicle License required.
  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
  • Subject to shift work including weekends.
  • Off-hour on-call responsibility is required on a rotational basis.
  • At times requires working long hours in response to outage situations and shift coverage requirements.
  • Must be able to manage multiple activities simultaneously to meet deadlines and customer requirements.
  • Requires being able to effectively relate to customers and the general-public under stressful circumstances and for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to clearly articulate job and safety related information to employees and to effectively address performance issues in a constructive manner.
  • Requires being able to respond to problem situations in a timely manner at all hours of the day or night.
