About The Position

This position provides leadership to ensure the safe, timely, and efficient completion of work efforts related to the construction, operation, maintenance, and emergency restoration of electric distribution systems. The role ensures effective coordination among individuals and departments, actively promotes a safety-first environment, and motivates employees to deliver excellent customer experience. As a Senior Supervisor, the individual serves as a local technical lead, coaches other supervisors, authorizes resource re-allocation, drives innovation, leads area work center activities during manager absence, and represents the manager at various meetings. This role is part of the Project Group in Western Massachusetts, requiring travel across the territory and oversight of both internal and external contract crews. The Senior Supervisor provides operational oversight and execution support throughout all project phases, including representing Operations in constructability reviews, conducting field site visits, advising on permitting, supporting contractor pre-bids, and coordinating with Materials Management for timely material delivery. The role also collaborates with Planning and Scheduling teams to manage project schedules, track progress, and report status. Key duties include submitting required documentation (ITOA permits, SCNs, PONS, approvals), requesting and managing tags/holds, conducting site visits and safety observations during construction, and performing quality control reviews and as-built walkdowns post-construction. Additionally, the Senior Supervisor reviews and approves contractor invoices for accuracy and compliance.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of methods, work practices, and procedures regarding the safe construction, operation, and maintenance of electric T&D facilities and infrastructure at both secondary and primary operating voltages.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must maintain switching and tagging qualifications.
  • Strong knowledge of computers and related technology.
  • Ability to learn and utilize available information technologies.
  • Ability to use PC desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Word & Excel).
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related experience.
  • Minimum of eight (8) or more years of related experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as the local technical lead or coach for other supervisors.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and coach others.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead area work center activities during manager absence.
  • Demonstrated ability to professionally represent Eversource in Manager’s absence at department, customer, and community meetings.
  • Valid Motor Vehicle License.
  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
  • Subject to shift work including weekends.
  • Off-hour on-call responsibility is required on a rotational basis.
  • At times requires working long hours in response to outage situations and shift coverage requirements.
  • Must be able to manage multiple activities simultaneously to meet deadlines and customer requirements.
  • Requires being able to effectively relate to customers and the general-public under stressful circumstances and for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to clearly articulate job and safety related information to employees and to effectively address performance issues in a constructive manner.
  • Requires being able to respond to problem situations in a timely manner at all hours of the day or night.

Responsibilities

  • Support contractor pre-bids and procurement activities.
  • Work closely with Materials Management to ensure materials are available and delivered in alignment with project schedules.
  • Collaborate with Planning and Scheduling teams to manage project schedules, track progress, and report milestone status.
  • Submit required documentation, including ITOA permits, SCNs, PONS, and other project approvals.
  • Request and manage required tags and holds.
  • Conduct site visits, safety observations, and field checks to ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with plans during construction.
  • Conduct quality control reviews, as-built walkdowns, and verification of completed work post-construction.
  • Review and approve contractor invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance with contractual and project requirements.
  • Account for the safe execution of field activities.
  • Set safety expectations with employees.
  • Resolve safety issues/concerns in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Communicate safety lessons learned and promote continuous learning of safe work methods, practices, and procedures.
  • Make decisions and prioritize work to ensure the safe and appropriate use of assigned resources.
  • Set clear expectations and provide ongoing feedback to employees regarding their performance.
  • Effectively address performance issues.
  • Conduct comprehensive performance reviews (per applicable bargaining unit contract).
  • Apply local union contracts and agreements properly.
  • Work with managers and employees to resolve grievances and concerns in a timely and complete manner.
  • Participate in pre-construction reviews and other activities to ensure the timely and efficient execution of field operations.
  • Coordinate work with other utilities, other Eversource departments, and outside contractors as necessary.
  • Ensure work complete within budgetary guidelines.
  • Prepare, review, and approve time, expense, materials and other company records in an accurate and timely manner and in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Demonstrate and role model a customer-first attitude.
  • Seek to quickly resolve customer issues by collaborating with employees and other departments.
  • Fulfill storm duty assignments and participate in on-call rotation as required.
