Job Purpose As a Senior Construction Supervisor, you will play a key leadership role in delivering critical infrastructure projects that keep our communities connected and our customers served. Working closely with the Manager or Lead Construction Supervisor, you will oversee contract construction crews responsible for both maintenance and new construction activities across the network. In this highly visible role, you will coordinate and monitor daily field operations, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You will serve as a trusted partner to contractors, championing a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance. Success in this position requires strong leadership, sound decision-making, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. Requirements

  • At least 5 years of construction and/or military experience with increasing levels of responsibility, preferably in utility construction; OR An associate degree (2-year technical degree) in engineering, construction technology, or a related field required.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schematics, contracts, and scope of work documents.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify potential issues and develop practical solutions before work begins.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to travel throughout the service territory and work extended hours as needed, including during emergency response and restoration efforts required.
  • Valid driver's license with a driving record that meets National Grid's Safe Driver Policy required.
  • You must have the ability to work without a need for current or future visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of OSHA, environmental, federal, state, local, and company safety regulations preferred.
  • Working knowledge of construction methods, equipment, materials, and safe work practices, including hazard recognition and mitigation preferred.
  • Experience in utility construction, electric distribution, gas distribution, telecommunications, or related infrastructure projects preferred.
  • Technical, vocational, or military training related to construction, engineering, utilities, or field operations preferred.

  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company, regulatory, and environmental requirements.
  • Monitor project progress, quality, and productivity to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with contractors, internal stakeholders, and customers.
  • Help ensure reliable, uninterrupted service through effective planning, oversight, and execution of field operations.
  • Contribute to infrastructure improvements that support the communities we serve.
