About The Position

Michael Baker International is seeking a Senior Structural CADD Designer to join their transportation team. This role offers an experienced designer the chance to contribute to significant transportation and bridge projects while also mentoring junior CADD professionals. The designer will develop detailed plans for bridges and transportation structures using industry-leading CADD platforms, collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, support project delivery, promote best practices in design documentation, and provide training and mentorship to CADD staff.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, certification program, or two-year technical degree.
  • 10-15+ years of CADD design experience focused on transportation engineering, structural design, or bridge detailing.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation, GeoPak, and OpenBridge Modeler.
  • Experience preparing plans and design documentation for transportation and bridge projects.
  • Strong knowledge of drafting standards, CADD techniques, and engineering documentation practices.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting SCDOT transportation and bridge projects preferred.
  • Experience with 3D modeling techniques and software preferred.
  • Familiarity with AutoDesk Civil 3D and/or AutoDesk Land Desktop preferred.
  • Working knowledge of GIS software preferred.
  • Experience training or mentoring junior CADD staff preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project and CADD software configuration to improve workflows and maintain production standards.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for new and current CADD staff.
  • Mentor and provide technical support to designers and engineers.
  • Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and final design documentation using company and client standards, including SCDOT requirements.
  • Independently create and revise engineering drawings and plan sets.
  • Review drawings and plans for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Collaborate with structural, roadway, drainage, and other engineering teams to resolve design challenges.
  • Identify and correct errors, omissions, and inconsistencies through detailed drawing reviews.
  • Support transportation and bridge projects from planning through final design.
