JMT is seeking a motivated individual to design, manage, and market Water Resources Engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated design and management experience in drainage and stormwater management, including modeling and permitting, with supporting civil engineering design capabilities. This role is crucial for growing the water resources discipline within a multi-discipline engineering office. A strong understanding of Virginia stormwater regulations, experience with stormwater and drainage design for Virginia transportation projects, and the ability to assist local municipalities with MS4 permit compliance and TMDL goals are highly desired. The position involves performing engineering design with limited supervision, acting as a technical mentor, and managing projects in accordance with scope, schedule, and budget.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated design and management experience in drainage and stormwater management design, modeling, and permitting.
  • Supporting capabilities to perform a variety of design tasks in the civil engineering field.
  • Understanding of existing Virginia stormwater regulations.
  • Experience on stormwater and drainage design for Virginia transportation projects.
  • Ability to assist local municipalities with MS4 permit compliance and reach their TMDL goals.
  • Responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments with limited supervision.
  • Acts as a technical mentor to less experienced engineers.
  • Experience, education and certifications commensurate with compensation range of $125,000 - $150,000.

Responsibilities

  • Manages project(s) in accordance with scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Develop drainage design and stormwater management design in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools.
  • Responsible for stormwater management, erosion and sedimentation control / NPDES permitting on transportation and other development projects.
  • Conduct watershed studies and hydrologic and hydraulic analysis.
  • Prepare Contract Documents including Plans, Specifications and Cost Estimates.
  • Design and inspect traditional and innovative green stormwater infrastructure and SWM BMPs in both urban and rural environments.
  • Coordination with contractors, outside consultants, government agencies, and JMT staff from multiple locations and technical disciplines.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.
  • Develop project specific project plans, Project Management Plans/quality management plan.
  • Manage subconsultants.
  • Build relationships with client(s) to understand preferences and requirements to set-up and execute a quality project.
  • Prepare progress reports and review invoices.
  • Develop and lead in project status and presentations.
  • Assist Section Heads, Office Leaders, and Practice Leaders with the marketing process including, SMART Go/No Go decisions, proposal development, and interviews.
  • Lead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meeting, coaching) that supports the growth and development of team.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
