Senior Staff Software Engineer, Perception
About The Position
AeroVect is transforming ground handling through autonomy, helping airlines and ground service providers around the world run day-to-day operations. The company is a Series A startup backed by venture capital investors in aviation and autonomous driving, and its customers include large airlines and ground handling providers. The Senior Staff Software Engineer, Perception will architect and deploy perception systems for autonomous ground handling. The role includes developing 3D object detection models and multi-modal approaches using cameras, LiDAR, and radar; building data collection and evaluation pipelines; creating a proprietary multi-modal dataset; and training, deploying, and monitoring 2D/3D detection models in production. The engineer will also shape the perception system roadmap and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Deep Learning, or a related field.
- 7+ years of focused experience architecting and deploying 2D/3D object detection models.
- Experience working on the entire perception stack, including sensing, preprocessing, detection, and tracking.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Ability to identify gaps and lead cross-functional projects.
Nice To Haves
- PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related discipline.
- Full-stack autonomous vehicle knowledge.
- Experience architecting perception systems for detection and tracking.
- Publications in major conferences such as CVPR, ICRA, NeurIPS, IJCAI, or AAAI.
Responsibilities
- Architect 3D object detection models, including multi-modal approaches using camera, LiDAR, and radar.
