About The Position

EarnIn is seeking an experienced, resourceful Senior Staff Software Engineer to join its product engineering team and work cross-functionally on the design and development of core products. The role owns architecture spanning business units, including defining domain boundaries, locating cross-cutting concerns, and ensuring product logic, policy, and funds flow remain in appropriate layers. It leads architecture reviews, documents decisions, and drives roadmaps to decompose and unify shared systems in ways teams can adopt incrementally. The engineer partners with Platform, Money Platform, and business-unit engineering leads to establish practical, adopted standards. The role also makes deprecation, experiment cleanup, and clear ownership part of system design; uses AI tools for design, code analysis, and review; and builds agents, skills, and documentation that help engineers and AI coding agents understand the architecture. It sets practices and guardrails for responsible AI-assisted development, mentors Staff and Senior engineers, contributes to hiring and onboarding, and represents engineering in technical discussions with product, risk, and leadership. This is a full-time hybrid position based in Mountain View, requiring two days of in-office work per week. The listed Mountain View base salary range is $279,000–$341,000, plus equity and benefits.

  • Track record of designing and evolving large distributed systems.
  • Demonstrated experience defining domain boundaries and service contracts across multiple teams.
  • Practical knowledge of domain-driven design, event-driven systems, and clean architecture.
  • Hands-on, daily use of AI coding and design tools, with concrete examples of their impact on work and results.
