Senior Staff Full-stack Engineer – Customer Resiliency (Senior Director, IC) (Remote-Eligible)
About The Position
As a Senior Staff Engineer at the Senior Director level and an individual contributor, you will help define the future of cloud banking alongside developers, machine learning experts, product managers, and people leaders. You will act as a leading domain expert, devising practical and reusable solutions to complex problems and driving innovation to improve business outcomes through strong technology solutions. You will promote engineering excellence and an inclusive culture, mentor engineers, and help recruit and develop technical talent. Through technical contribution, you will serve as a trusted advisor on key technologies, platforms, and capability domains, sharing knowledge through clear communications, code samples, blog posts, and other materials. You will specialize in a subject area while contributing broadly across the organization. The Customer Acquisitions, Resiliency & Growth Organization (CARGO) in Card Tech+ owns technology supporting multiple key experiences in a Capital One card customer’s journey. This role focuses on advancing customer resiliency technology, including modernizing monolithic systems into microservices and event-driven platforms, and helping define long-term platform strategy and API standards. Capital One is open to hiring a remote employee for this opportunity.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field, such as Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, or Engineering.
- At least 9 years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture.
- At least 9 years of experience in enterprise architecture and design patterns.
- At least 9 years of experience in cloud computing with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
- At least 9 years of experience in data architecture.
Nice To Haves
- Master's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
- 12+ years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture.
- 12+ years of experience in enterprise architecture and design patterns.

- 12+ years of experience with networking protocols and integration with third-party distributed systems.
- 7+ years of experience mentoring senior engineers and driving professional development within technical teams.
- 3+ years of experience leading cross-domain architectural reviews or establishing coding and design standards.
- Expertise in the strategic application of agentic AI coding tools to solve systemic development challenges.

- Help recruit and develop technical talent.
