About The Position

Black Raven Trades Group (BRTG) is a PE-backed electrical services platform operating across multiple states under the Mister Sparky franchise model. We are a high-growth company in active acquisition mode, and our Finance team sits at the center of our operational and strategic decision-making. The Senior Staff Accountant is a critical member of BRTG's accounting function, reporting directly to the Controller and working in close partnership with the CFO. This role supports the finance department by ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining financial records and assisting with various accounting tasks and serves as the day-to-day engine behind our financial reporting and lender compliance obligations. The right candidate thrives in a fast-paced, PE-backed environment, has a sharp eye for variance analysis, and brings a continuous improvement mindset to everything they touch.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3–6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity or multi-location environment
  • Strong technical accounting skills with hands-on month-end close ownership experience
  • Proficiency in cash flow forecasting and variance analysis
  • Advanced Excel skills; comfortable working with large data sets and building financial models from scratch
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges

Nice To Haves

  • CPA (licensed or candidate) strongly preferred
  • Experience in a PE-backed company, franchise business model, or field services / trades industry
  • Familiarity with lender reporting, debt covenant compliance, or working with PE sponsors
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage) and reporting tools
  • Exposure to M&A integration, acquisition accounting, or multi-entity consolidations

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day accounting functions, including AP, AR, general ledger and bank reconciliation
  • Lead and execute monthly close activities in coordination with the Controller, ensuring timely and accurate financial statement preparation
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaid amortization, fixed asset activity, and inter-company allocations
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly and resolve open items on a timely basis
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Monitor daily cash positions across operating entities and flag liquidity risks proactively
  • Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements covering revenue, gross profit, marketing performance, financing mix, and Adjusted EBITDA
  • Prepare regional and market-level P&L analyses across BRTG’s operating markets to support regional manager reviews
  • Coordinate with the Controller and external advisors on audit and lender diligence requests
  • Support the annual budgeting process, including collection and consolidation of inputs, model build, and scenario analysis
  • Support M&A integration activities as BRTG continues to expand its acquisition pipeline
  • Assist with IT-related capitalization and expense classification decisions and EBITDA add-back documentation
  • Contribute to process documentation and internal controls development as the company scales
  • Assist with ad hoc financial modeling and analysis and other duties as assigned by Controller or CFO
