As our firm continues to grow and expand, we are seeking an Senior Staff Accountant to join our team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys working in a dynamic environment, supporting financial operations, and ensuring accuracy across billing and accounting functions. You will collaborate with attorneys, leadership, and staff to deliver reliable financial reporting while contributing to a high-performing, team-oriented culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles
  • Experience with legal billing and accounting systems preferred
  • Proficiency in Excel and financial software
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Perform full-cycle accounting functions including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and month-end and year-end close procedures in accordance with GAAP
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
  • Manage the full-cycle legal billing process, including pre-bill review, edits, and e-billing submissions
  • Process accounts receivable transactions including cash receipts, payment application, and reconciliations
  • Support accounts payable and general accounting functions as needed
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, unapplied cash, and client account issues in a timely manner
  • Support collections efforts by monitoring aged receivables and coordinating follow-up on outstanding balances
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and trust/IOLTA accounts in compliance with firm policies
  • Utilize Excel and accounting systems for reporting, analysis, and financial tracking
  • Partner with attorneys and internal teams to resolve financial questions and ensure accuracy
  • Maintain organized financial records and consistently meet deadlines
