About The Position

We are currently searching for a Senior Staff Accountant.

Requirements

  • A two-year college degree with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance, Payroll or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in accounting and payroll, with the ability to produce, review, and analyze financial statements accurately.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required, with a strong ability to use functions, formulas, and data analysis tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred five years of experience in a related environment, with union experience considered a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll-related functions, including but not limited to managing new hires, terminations, status changes, tax updates, wage garnishments, and payroll deductions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing in compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
  • Review and verify payroll data in a timely manner, calculate overtime and other pay premiums, and enter payroll data.
  • Oversees maintenance of payroll records and files including but not limited to sick time, vacation, and other accrued leave.
  • Responds to routine inquiries concerning payroll deductions and accruals, wage garnishments, child support payments, and employment verifications.
  • Apply knowledge of union agreements and labor laws to ensure compliance in payroll, benefits, and employee relations processes.
  • Review, verify, and process invoices for payment; ensure accuracy with purchase orders and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Process payments, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers, and maintain accurate transaction records.
  • Reconcile accounts payable sub-ledger to the general ledger, assist with month-end closing, and prepare accounts payable reports.
  • Maintain vendor relationships, respond to inquiries, and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Collect, count, and reconcile cash deposits from various departments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Prepare daily cash reports and balance cash drawers.
  • Support and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and oversight on day-to-day tasks including accounts receivable, income audit, and daily reconciliation.
  • Prepare, analyze, and review month-end financial statements and variance analyses.
  • Perform and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and identifying discrepancies.
  • Investigate and resolve variances to maintain integrity of account balances.
  • Support various finance and accounting projects as needed, including data analysis, reporting, and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address unique business needs and provide insights.
