About The Position

The Senior Accountant supports the mission, goals and strategic plan of South Florida Donor Network (SFDN) through performing accounting functions related to general ledger reconciliations, preparing internal financial statements for all consolidating entities, and assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or university) in Accounting
  • At least five years of experience in related field
  • Knowledge of accounting software, Microsoft Office, intermediate Excel skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in accounting healthcare or a nonprofit
  • Financial reporting experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Completes monthly closing procedures and assists in preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Prepares adjusting journal entries with supporting documentation for review on monthly basis
  • Prepares all general ledger account schedules and reconciles variances.
  • Ensures all fixed assets are entered in asset program, depreciated and schedule ties to general ledger
  • Maintain an accurate general ledger and proactively review for corrections and propose changes, make necessary adjustments and meet specific deadlines
  • Ensures accounting system is consistent with acceptable accounting standards
  • Ensures inventory balances and physical counts reconcile to the general ledger
  • Prepares balance sheet reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts with supporting documentation for review on a quarterly basis
  • Reviews and prepares monthly bank reconciliations
  • Propose new journal entries and create new worksheets
  • Assists in ensuring all accounting processes outlined in policies and forms are current and workflows are up-to-date
  • Review Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable batches prior to posting
  • Maintain organized and secure electronic and paper files
  • Assist in disseminating accounting process changes
  • Assist in special projects and create and produce custom reports as assigned
  • Performs internal audits as needed to ensure compliance with SOPs, GAAP and FASB.
  • Collaborates with other departments to implement process changes and be a knowledgeable resource to the team
  • Set up and orientate new employees in accounting and expense management systems
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable as backup, as needed
  • Assist Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Specialists with Statement reconciliations
  • Prepare and distribute donation letters quarterly
  • Prepares tax forms for independent contractors and files by deadline
  • Assist in filing Property Tax Reports, accurately and timely
  • Perform preceptor responsibilities
  • Send un-cleared check notices to vendors and communicates appropriate voids to Finance Manager
  • Assist in disseminating new and amended contract information to appropriate personnel
  • Assist with yearly financial audits: research and compile information
