About The Position

The Senior Staff Accountant performs advanced accounting, financial analysis, and reporting functions requiring a high degree of professional judgment, discretion, and independent decision-making. This role owns key aspects of the financial close, cost accounting, budgeting, CapEx analysis, and Board reporting while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. This position does not have supervisory responsibility but operates with significant autonomy and influence on financial outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • ERP system experience and strong Microsoft Excel skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Exercise independent judgment in owning the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance close procedures to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Oversee the processing and posting of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions to ensure timely, accurate close and proper expense and revenue recognition.
  • Perform advanced cost accounting analyses, including standard costing, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variance analysis.
  • Participate in the development, maintenance, and annual roll of standard costs.
  • Interpret operational data to assess financial performance and cost drivers.
  • Analyze and interpret monthly financial results, including margins, operating expenses, and key performance metrics.
  • Prepare executive-level financial analyses and reporting packages, including materials for the Board of Directors.
  • Communicate financial results, trends, and risks to executive leadership and plant management.
  • Apply professional judgment to ensure compliance with accounting policies, GAAP, and internal controls.
  • Identify control gaps and recommend enhancements to mitigate financial risk.
  • Prepare complex schedules, analyses, and documentation for external audits and regulatory reporting.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual governmental surveys and filings requiring interpretation of reporting requirements.
  • Play a key analytical role in the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Perform financial evaluation, tracking, and post-investment analysis of Capital Expenditures (CapEx).
  • Lead accounting process improvements and automation initiatives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for accounting and financial analysis.
  • Lead or contribute to special projects requiring complex analysis, judgment, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Follow safe work practices and keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
