About The Position

Upper Crust Food Service is seeking a skilled Senior Staff Accountant or Assistant Controller to support the financial close process and maintain the integrity of our general ledger. The right candidate will own the day-to-day accounting execution — close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting. Requirements

• 3–7 years of progressive accounting experience
• Proficiency in NetSuite (required) - including hands-on experience with modules, saved searches, and workflow automation
• Advanced Excel skills - pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, SUMIF, and data manipulation
• Solid understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet close deadlines
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments

Nice To Haves

• CPA designation (preferred but not required)
• Interest in how AI can augment accounting and finance teams
• Experience in food service, hospitality, or multi-unit/multi-state operations

Responsibilities

• Lead or support month-end and year-end close process
• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation
• Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts and subledgers to the general ledger
• Proactively identify manual and inefficient processes and manage automation efforts using NetSuite modules, saved searches, and workflow tools
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
• Produce monthly financial statements and internal management reporting
• Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed to inform business decisions
• Support internal controls documentation and process improvement
• Assist with audit preparation and coordination with the external accounting and audit firms
• Produce and track sales tax reports
• Work closely with AP, AR, Payroll, and operations teams to provide accounting support
• Serve as a NetSuite resource for the accounting team and cross-functional partners
• Other duties as assigned
