About The Position

L3Harris seeks an Electrical Engineer to support customers in the Strategic Missions Division at its Palm Bay, Florida location. This is an on-site position. The role performs electronics design using electrical design and analysis tools, including schematic capture, functional and block diagram generation, and electrical wiring diagrams for digital, power, analog, and mixed-signal designs. The engineer collaborates with Systems, Mechanical, Software, Firmware, and Electrical Engineers and Technicians as part of an integrated product team, meets project cost and schedule milestones, and contributes to customer reviews. The position focuses on circuit card assembly (CCA) design, including mixed-signal circuits, digital design processes, high-speed memory interfaces, and advanced board technologies. The engineer is responsible for independently developing digital CCA design solutions and must be able to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of prior relevant experience; alternatively, a graduate degree and at least 4 years of prior related experience; or at least 10 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with high-speed memory and network interfaces and protocols.
  • Self-motivation and ability to lead a design team.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and negotiate solutions with Hardware/Software Engineering and Systems Engineering.
  • Knowledge of high-complexity digital design techniques and devices.
  • Hardware debugging skills and experience operating signal generators, logic analyzers, and digital oscilloscopes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CCA design for mixed-signal technology circuits, including A/D, D/A, processors, I/O communication, and programmable logic circuits such as FPGA and CPLD.
  • Carry out digital CCA design activities, including requirements generation, preliminary design, peer reviews, detailed design, test plan generation, integration, and test.
  • Design circuits using components such as Xilinx FPGAs, TI DSP processors, Freescale or Intel processors, microcontrollers, CPLDs, and volatile and non-volatile memory.
  • Work with board technologies such as HDI, Meg6, and back drilling.
  • Design high-speed DDRx memory interfaces.
  • Use schematic design software for circuit card designs, including schematic capture, constraint-driven layout, simulation, and timing analysis.
  • Independently generate digital CCA design solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and technician teams as part of an integrated product team.
  • Meet project cost and schedule milestones and contribute to customer reviews.
