About The Position

As a Senior Specialist Electrical Engineer within the Surveillance product line, you will lead the development of TCAS and transponder avionics for commercial aircraft. Responsibilities span concept development, detailed design, qualification, production support, and lifecycle management. You will collaborate with multi‑disciplinary engineering teams, as well as operations and manufacturing, to deliver high‑reliability avionics products to customers. This role includes hands‑on circuit design, analysis, documentation, testing, and customer support activities, with accountability for resolving technical issues and driving continuous improvement across the product lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree with a minimum of 10 years of related experience
  • Hands‑on experience with electrical hardware design, integration, production, and/or test
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematics for troubleshooting and design improvement

Nice To Haves

  • High‑speed digital design experience, including DDR4/DDR5, PCIe, and Ethernet
  • Signal Integrity / Power Integrity (SI/PI) analysis, simulation, and mitigation
  • Reliability and safety methods, including component derating, transient protection, and worst‑case analysis
  • DC‑DC conversion design (buck, boost, flyback) for high‑current digital loads
  • AC‑DC conversion and qualification, including PFC, rectifiers, and isolated power stages
  • Working knowledge of Python or C++
  • Experience with aerospace systems, especially integrated hardware/software products
  • Awareness of FPGA and firmware development requirements impacting electrical design
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working in cross‑functional teams
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Knowledge of aerospace standards such as DO‑160, DO‑178, and DO‑254
  • Experience with Design‑to‑Cost and Design‑for‑Manufacturability principles
  • Experience supporting production and test activities across geographically distributed teams
  • Proven ability to manage multiple programs and priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to operate independently and identify appropriate technical paths forward with minimal oversight
  • Pilot license or Part 107 certification (a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Design and support digital, analog, and power circuitry with supplemental RF principles for avionics applications
  • Design, analyze, and test circuits incorporating microprocessors, memory, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, PCIe, and other high‑speed and avionics interfaces
  • Support production and resolve factory‑related issues impacting assigned products
  • Generate and review electrical schematics; support and review PCB layout (Altium preferred)
  • Develop change impact analyses and support product management initiatives, including obsolescence, design‑to‑cost, and design‑for‑manufacturability
  • Utilize electrical analysis tools for power distribution, stress analysis, and relevant simulations
  • Communicate effectively across multiple technical and functional teams
  • Interface directly with customers, virtually or in person, to understand issues and develop actionable solutions
  • Support hands‑on testing and simulations to validate design intent
