About The Position

The Senior Specialist, Commercial Logistics is responsible for managing and continuously improving key commercial logistics operations that support Vericel’s Burn and Cartilage Care franchises. The role serves as the primary operational owner for final product delivery logistics, surgical instrument and consignment programs, and related logistics vendors and systems, ensuring reliable, efficient, and cost-effective execution as the business grows. This position collaborates cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Operations, Sales Leadership, Finance, and external vendors to ensure commercial products are delivered on time and on budget. The Manager will also oversee programs related to surgical instruments, participate in S&OP activities, and partner with Vericel UK as appropriate. Success in this role requires strong operational ownership, problem-solving, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain logistics, healthcare administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain logistics, commercial operations, sales operations, project coordination, or related business function; experience within the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or medical device industry preferred.
Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple projects, events, or operational initiatives simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Experience managing vendor relationships, budgets, purchase orders, contracts, and invoice reconciliation.
Proficiency with logistics software, Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and external partners.

Responsibilities

Establish and monitor key logistics performance measures, identify recurring issues and operational risks, and lead process improvements that increase reliability, efficiency, visibility, and scalability.
Plan final delivery of our MACI implants and Epicel Grafts. Includes coordination of weekly transport of MACI patient lots from Vericel and two specialty pharmacies prior to final delivery.
Provide accurate Airwaybills to QA to accommodate packaging procedures.
Adjust schedules/pick-up times with Operations and courier as needed.
Monitor shipments and triage delays, loss, and last-minute changes.
Communicate with specialty pharmacies about delays or schedule changes with deliveries during and after business hours.
Communicate with sales/sales leadership about significant delays.
Work with Sales Operations to integrate our logistics platform with Salesforce CRM to increase visibility and analytics.
Manage logistics vendor performance and associated spend, identify cost-saving opportunities, and establish appropriate service expectations and performance measures.
Manage the Consignment Program to best serve the MACI salesforce.
Increase visibility through the salesforce CRM to drive quicker turnaround time.
Conduct quarterly audits of Consignment and trays assigned directly to sales reps.
Maintain appropriate inventory levels based on quarterly forecasts.
Manage the inventory management platform, Move Medical.
Enhance SOPs for sales teams, supply chain, sales operations, and instrument manufacturing to drive efficiency.
Conduct quarterly audits of all field trunk stock.
Manage home office inventory used for surgeon training.
Support the development and commercialization of sellable surgical trays, durable and single-use instruments for U.S. and UK markets.
Design and manage the operational process for instrument sales in partnership with Sales, Supply Chain and Finance.
Support pricing implementation and Value Analysis Committee requirements in partnership with Sales Leadership and other appropriate functions.
