About The Position

The Senior Spacecraft Embedded Software Engineer is part of Varda’s Flight Software team and determines how spacecraft behave and operate in orbit, developing reliable software to support those operations. The role covers all phases of development, from requirements capture and initial design through testing, integration, and flight operational support. The engineer develops software for Varda’s spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software.
At least 5 years of experience developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software.
Experience developing and testing real-time embedded hardware/software systems.
Experience developing in C++ and a strong understanding of C++ language concepts.

Nice To Haves

Experience with safety-critical software, especially in aerospace applications.
Experience with additional programming languages such as Python or Rust.
Strong understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, data structures, and computer networking.

Responsibilities

Develop reliable firmware to control the spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule throughout the mission.
Own software development across design, testing, and integration.
Scope projects, capture requirements, and conduct initial design trades for open-ended problems.
Write structured bare-metal, RTOS-based, or Linux-based software for embedded processors in C++.
Build highly reliable and available software systems.
Ensure system quality and performance using software testing, verification, and validation techniques.
