About The Position

SEAKR Engineering is seeking an accomplished Space Electronics Systems Engineer to lead the design, development, testing, and qualification of mission-critical electronic subsystems for next-generation products. The role collaborates with hardware, firmware, mechanical, power, and software teams to deliver highly reliable, radiation-tolerant electronics that meet stringent requirements. The position is hybrid, with three days onsite at the research facility and two days remote, dependent on the program cycle. It involves mission-driven space projects, interdisciplinary collaboration, design reviews, and continuous improvement. SEAKR provides a dedicated budget for space-industry conferences, training, and certification programs. Applicants must be U.S. citizens. The base salary range is $130,000–$180,000 per year, depending on qualifications. Employees are eligible for a year-end bonus and receive medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid leave including vacation, sick, bereavement, and FMLA leave.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10 or more years of systems engineering experience in the space industry, or 4 or more years in a senior or lead role.
  • Deep knowledge of digital and analog electronics design, including mixed-signal and high-speed electronics.
  • Proficiency with Requirements Management Environment (RME) tools.
  • Experience with radiation testing (TID, SEE) and mitigation techniques.
  • Experience integrating firmware/software with embedded microcontrollers or FPGAs.
  • Proven ability to design and execute electrical, EMI/EMC, thermal vacuum, vibration, and functional test plans.
  • Ability to interpret test data and apply it to design improvements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
  • Team leadership and mentorship skills.
  • U.S. citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with RF processing system architecture and design, including testing.
  • Experience with space-qualified microprocessors or FPGA families.
  • Knowledge of system power calculations throughout a space design cycle.
  • Prior work with space-qualifying standards such as NASA SP-3008, ECSS-E-ST-20C, MIL-STD-1553, and SpaceWire.

Responsibilities

  • Define and validate architectures for avionics, payload electronics, power-distribution units, and environmental control systems; produce derived specifications, system-level block diagrams, and test plans.
  • Evaluate and select commercial or radiation-hardened components against mission specifications.
  • Oversee prototype builds, assembly, and production-grade manufacturing.
  • Design and execute system-level electrical, functional, EMI/EMC, vibration, and thermal tests; analyze data, generate reports, and drive verification efforts.
  • Define and maintain electronic interface control documents (ICDs and EID), and coordinate with hardware, power, software, and mechanical teams to resolve cross-disciplinary interface issues.
  • Produce design specifications, test procedures, and operational manuals, and maintain a knowledge base for future teams.
  • Understand mission needs, translate customer requests into technological solutions, and represent SEAKR in unit sell-off and delivery.
  • Mentor junior engineers, conduct design reviews, and foster cross-functional teamwork.
