Senior Solutions Developer - UCL Data Platform

M&T Bank•Buffalo, NY

About The Position

The Senior Solutions Developer designs, develops, tests, implements, and supports data integration and processing solutions for the UCL data platform and its upstream and downstream consumers. The role focuses on Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW), SQL/PLSQL, Oracle Cloud/OCI, data integration pipelines, and enterprise data sources, including the movement and transformation of financial data through controlled development and release processes. The developer independently analyzes complex data requirements, creates efficient SQL and data-processing solutions, troubleshoots data and performance issues, and collaborates with Finance, Technology, architecture, testing, and vendor teams. The position develops and supports ADW-based processing and ETL/ELT integrations, including Snowflake-to-ADW data movement, and works directly with downstream consumers to establish requirements and delivery expectations. It supports increasing data volumes and processing frequencies, and participates in development, testing, release, deployment, and production validation across controlled environments. The role operates within an enterprise SDLC, maintaining Jira work and traceability across requirements, development, testing, architecture, and deployment. It also provides technical guidance and code/design review, supports risk and regulatory controls, and helps maintain internal control standards. The position is four days onsite at the Seneca One location in Buffalo, New York, with the flexibility to work from home one day per week.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain SQL/PLSQL and Oracle ADW data-processing solutions, including complex queries, transformations, views, extracts, and data-loading processes.
  • Develop and support ETL/ELT and data integration pipelines between enterprise data sources and Oracle ADW, including Snowflake-to-ADW integration and other data movements.
  • Analyze source-to-target requirements, data mappings, transformation logic, filters, joins, reconciliation rules, and downstream extract requirements.
  • Integrate incoming datasets into the UCL table structure or unified layer and create downstream extracts.
  • Partner with downstream consumers to understand data requirements, fields, filters, frequency, timing, validation criteria, and delivery expectations.
  • Investigate and resolve data-quality, transformation, reconciliation, and SQL defects, identifying whether issues originate in source data, business logic, integration logic, or downstream processing.
  • Troubleshoot Oracle ADW performance, including long-running SQL, execution plans, CPU/I/O contention, parallel execution, temporary-space utilization, and other database bottlenecks.
  • Design solutions to support increasing data volumes, processing frequency, batch-runtime, and SLA requirements, including more frequent processing.
  • Support integration between UCL and Oracle DIS, Oracle DFCS, Snowflake, Workiva, Axiom, Alteryx, OCI, and other enterprise data sources and consumers as required by the architecture.
  • Participate in development, unit testing, SIT, UAT/CERT, release, deployment, and production validation across DEV, TEST/SIT, CERT/UAT, PREPROD, and PROD environments.
  • Diagnose production and lower-environment issues involving SQL logic, data discrepancies, interfaces, batch processing, performance, configuration, and data dependencies, and work with appropriate teams to resolve them.
  • Provide technical guidance and code/design reviews, identifying inefficient, incorrect, or unsustainable approaches before they reach higher environments.
  • Create and maintain Jira Stories/Tasks for development work and associate work with the appropriate Jira Feature.

  • Understand and adhere to company risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls; identify risk-related issues requiring escalation to management.
  • Promote a culture of belonging that reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points and applicable issues raised by external regulators.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
