Senior Software Technical Program Manager

SharkNinja•Needham, MA
•$93,800 - $177,000

About The Position

SharkNinja is seeking a self-motivated Senior Program Manager to join its Engineering group and lead programs for software-enabled consumer products. The role connects product, software, hardware, QA, supply chain, and marketing leaders, aligning project direction, priorities, scope, and decisions. The Senior Program Manager partners with engineering managers and technical leads and shares responsibility for bringing products to market: the program manager owns what is delivered and when, while engineering owns how it is delivered. The position requires communicating complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders while engaging with the engineering team on architecture trade-offs, release scope, and dependencies across firmware, apps, cloud services, and hardware. The role manages integrated schedules, release planning, dependencies, risks, stakeholders, budgets, and resources across the product lifecycle, from concept through launch and post-launch support.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in program or project management, or in a technical role leading software or product delivery.
  • Experience managing projects through the full lifecycle, from concept through launch and post-launch support; connected or software-enabled consumer products are preferred.
  • Working knowledge of software delivery methods such as Agile/Scrum or Kanban, release management, CI/CD concepts, and integration among firmware, mobile, and cloud components.
  • Engineering or computer science background in software, embedded systems, or electrical engineering.
  • Ability to understand technical trade-offs, including architecture, technical debt, test coverage, and OTA updates, and explain them clearly to executives.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps, and strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience presenting regularly to senior stakeholders.
  • Hands-on, flexible, collaborative approach and a positive, entrepreneurial attitude in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Board or executive team experience.
  • Experience with IoT or smart connected devices.
  • Experience with product certification and compliance, such as UL, FCC, or cybersecurity requirements.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Experience with data-driven delivery metrics.
  • Ability to speak Mandarin.

Responsibilities

  • Align global teams on product direction, feature priorities, and scope trade-offs.
  • Own integrated plans across software, firmware, hardware, and certification workstreams, keeping schedules on track against launch and retailer dates.
  • Lead release planning, including scope cutoffs, code freeze, QA exit criteria, beta programs, and go/no-go decisions.
  • Track cross-team and vendor dependencies and risks, escalating early with options.
  • Keep global stakeholders informed about status, key issues, and decisions needed.
  • Partner with engineering managers on release cadence, backlog health, and delivery metrics.
  • Manage project budgets and resourcing.
  • Communicate technical topics and trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders and executives.
