About The Position
A fast-growing, venture-backed software and payments company is building payroll, bill pay, and banking features from scratch. The Senior Software Engineer will establish the patterns used by the company's money-moving systems. The role is based onsite in New York, NY, five days a week, and pays $220,000–$300,000 plus equity. Mural Group is recruiting for this position on behalf of a client.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience building production backend systems, ideally using TypeScript or Node.
- Experience with transaction guarantees, including idempotency, retries, and atomicity.
- Deep PostgreSQL expertise.
- Precision in reconciliation and rounding.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with payroll, banking, or audited ledger systems.
- Experience with ACH, payment processors, or accounting integrations.
- Experience directing AI coding agents.
Responsibilities
- Build payroll and bill pay from the ground up.
- Build ledgers, embedded accounts, and accounting syncs.
- Set standards for idempotency, retries, and reconciliation.
- Identify root causes of discrepancies and fix them permanently.
