Staff Software Engineer, Fintech Platform
About The Position
DAT Freight & Analytics is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for its Fintech Platform team at DAT Outgo, which is building a fintech platform for trucking businesses. The team develops a ledger supporting multiple fintech products, integrates with banking partners and lenders, and scales the platform across distinct fintech businesses. Its work includes building fault-tolerant systems for real-time decisions and money flows, automating and visualizing accounts receivable processes, and creating customer-facing financial applications. The platform uses Go, TypeScript, AWS, Temporal, Postgres, LLMs, and Grafana. The role calls for an engineer who takes ownership of team outcomes, shares candid feedback, establishes feedback loops, guides decisions about speed and quality, supports an inclusive and collaborative culture, and develops other engineers. The position is hybrid. Washington-based candidates are offered a listed salary range of $198,000–$246,000 plus target bonus; the posting does not specify salary for other locations.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of combined experience in software engineering.
- Experience working with payment systems.
- Experience building and operating complex systems of record that cannot tolerate missing data.
- Experience with cloud platforms and data systems, such as AWS, S3, or Aurora Postgres.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities
- Contribute to the Fintech Platform team’s ledger, which supports multiple distinct fintech products.
- Integrate the platform with banking partners and lenders.
- Scale the fintech platform to support growing demand across multiple fintech businesses.
- Take ownership of team outcomes and foster ownership among engineers.
- Share feedback about the product, technology stack, and team processes, and encourage engineers to do the same.
- Build feedback loops into team practices and coach engineers to seek input early and often.
- Guide the team through speed-versus-quality tradeoffs and make the reasoning explicit.
- Foster an environment where people can do their best work and help engineers grow in their careers.
