Senior Software Engineer — Agentic AI & Full-Stack Applications

QualcommSan Diego, CA
$117,800 - $176,600

About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Program Management Tools team. This role sits at the intersection of agentic AI workflow development and full-stack web applications. You will design and build AI agents that automate the program and product management lifecycle — idea intake, requirements management, planning, execution status reporting, and cross-team coordination — running in parallel with the agentic SW engineering AI SDLC workflow. You will also build full-stack web applications with AI capabilities for our program managers, product managers, engineering leaders, and executives. The work pairs deep technical skills with genuine functional fluency. You will: Work with a team of talented SW engineers delivering innovative solutions. Design and implement agentic systems, advanced orchestration logic, and the reasoning workflows behind them. Develop and maintain high-performance, scalable, and reliable SW and web applications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and solve complex software problems. Work directly with program managers and engineering leaders to turn workflow ideas into working agents and applications.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with agentic AI and LLM application development — tools calling, planning and orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation, prompt and context engineering, and agent evaluation.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and TypeScript, with demonstrated full-stack, enterprise-grade web application development (Angular or React).
  • Experience building full-stack applications (UI + backend services + APIs)
  • Proven ability to build clean, intuitive, and performant UI
  • Hands-on experience developing or integrating AI-powered applications
  • Familiarity with agentic workflows or orchestration frameworks
  • Strong understanding of API design, state management, and UI/backend integration
  • Hands-on experience with agentic runtimes and workflow frameworks such as LangGraph, AutoGen, or n8n.
  • Experience building and consuming API services and integrating with enterprise data platforms and SQL/NoSQL databases.
  • Proficiency with cloud development and deployment on AWS or Azure
  • Solid understanding of microservices architecture, enterprise authentication, role-based access control, and security best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business and functional requirements into technical solutions, working directly with business stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Work independently within a fast-paced and collaborative team environment and multi-task efficiently.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 2+ years of academic or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong programming skills in C#, .NET, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, React.js, Angular, Node.js, HTML, and CSS
  • Exposure to building or integrating AI-driven or GenAI-assisted features within enterprise applications.
  • Experience with agentic software development lifecycle tooling — coding agents, automated code review, test generation, or CI/CD automation driven by LLMs.
  • Exposure to AI platform engineering and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers.
  • Experience with natural-language-to-SQL or querying over governed datasets
  • Deep integration experience with Jira, Confluence, or Microsoft 365 APIs (Microsoft Graph).
  • Knowledge of workflow orchestration, event-driven architecture,
  • Ability to take high-level direction and independently drive end-to-end implementation
  • Prior experience in a matrixed, global organization with distributed teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deliver AI agents that automate workflows
  • Architect a multi-agent platform that runs in parallel with the agentic software development lifecycle, so PM agents and engineering SDLC agents can exchange plans, context, and signals over the same program data.
  • Develop full-stack web applications with generative AI functionality built in — conversational interfaces, natural-language querying over program data, automated summarization, and in-context recommendations.
  • Build backend services and APIs in C#, .NET, Python and TypeScript, and modern Angular/React front end, integrating with Jira, Microsoft 365, Confluence, and SQL/NoSQL data stores.
  • Enable AI insights/alerts over governed program data and validate answer accuracy and business relevance with stakeholders.
  • Define and apply agentic engineering standards: tool and MCP server contracts, plug-ins, prompt and context management, memory, guardrails, human-in-the-loop approval, and evaluation and observability harnesses for agent quality.

Benefits

  • competitive annual discretionary bonus program
  • opportunity for annual RSU grants
  • highly competitive benefits package
