Senior Full Stack Python Engineer - AI Applications
About The Position
Consumer Reports is hiring a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to turn its AI and machine learning capabilities into products used by consumers and internal teams. This is a product engineering role focused on delivering AI through scalable, intuitive applications rather than training models. The engineer will report to the Associate Director, AI/ML & Data Science and collaborate with AI/ML engineers, data scientists, product, and design teams to bring models, APIs, and data pipelines into production-ready experiences. The role owns the full stack—from frontend and backend to cloud—with responsibility for performance, reliability, usability, and clear, trustworthy AI experiences. This hybrid position has some onsite expectation and is not eligible for sponsorship or relocation assistance. Consumer Reports can hire only in its listed approved states and federal district.
Requirements
- At least 5 years building production full-stack applications.
- Experience with Python, JavaScript, and SQL/NoSQL systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience integrating software with AI/ML services, data APIs, or model endpoints as a consumer of those services.
- Experience deploying on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Databricks or SageMaker.
- Interest in turning complex AI models into products people use.
- Fluency across frontend, backend, and cloud.
- Comfort discussing UX and optimizing data pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Build full-stack applications, data APIs, and AI-powered dashboards.
- Develop backend services using Python frameworks such as FastAPI or Django, and Node.js.
- Integrate with Databricks and AWS SageMaker.
- Create responsive frontends using React, Next.js, and TailwindCSS.
- Deploy cloud-native applications on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Connect RAG pipelines, vector databases, and model endpoints.
- Implement authentication, data access, and API management.
- Build CI/CD pipelines and implement testing and performance optimization.
- Collaborate with product and design teams on AI-driven experiences.
- Help advance a multi-year AI strategy focused on consumer value, employee tools, and responsible AI.
