About The Position

Procore is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build and maintain a high-performance document-rendering microservice using Go and Postgres. The role will help transform an existing Ruby on Rails monolith into a clean, modular system with well-defined domain boundaries and a coherent public interface. The engineer will influence technical direction, establish patterns and standards, and deliver reliable document-rendering capabilities at scale. The position involves hands-on collaboration with engineering, product, architecture, infrastructure, platform, and DevOps teams to gather requirements, maintain system reliability, and deliver customer-focused solutions with measurable business impact. It is a hybrid role based in Procore’s Austin, Texas office, with two days per week in the office, and reports to a Software Engineering Manager.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
At least 2 years of professional experience in object-oriented programming, with deep expertise in Go, Ruby on Rails, and Postgres.
Solid understanding of microservices architecture, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), and best practices for scalable web applications.
Experience designing and operating systems on cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, with an emphasis on reliability and observability.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to understand tradeoffs and balance immediate needs with long-term strategic initiatives.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to document complex technical solutions and bring clarity to a team.
Curiosity, drive, and a customer-focused approach to solving problems.

Nice To Haves

Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience programming in Ruby on Rails.

Responsibilities

Architect, design, and build a scalable, high-performance document-rendering microservice using Golang and Postgres.
Evolve an existing Ruby on Rails monolith into a modular system with clear, well-enforced domain boundaries and a coherent public interface.
Define domain boundaries, architectural patterns, and standards that improve reliability, maintainability, and development velocity.
Drive system-level improvements in performance, resilience, observability, and cost efficiency.
Establish and uphold engineering practices, including TDD testing strategies, code reviews, instrumentation, and comprehensive documentation.
Troubleshoot and debug complex issues, lead root cause analysis, and implement effective long-term solutions.
Collaborate technically and mentor peers through constructive feedback to maintain code quality and enable autonomous delivery.
Partner with infrastructure, platform, and DevOps teams to define standards for deployment, CI/CD, monitoring, and reliability automation.
Work with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, ensure system reliability, and deliver customer-centric solutions with measurable business impact.
