About The Position

StubHub is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join its Edge Services team and help build and operate the global infrastructure for content delivery and edge security. The team owns CDN infrastructure, bot management, DNS, and traffic-layer protections, and treats edge infrastructure as a product by standardizing interfaces, applying zero-trust principles, and building scalable tools for internal teams. The role collaborates with Security Engineering, SRE, and product development teams to support the availability, reliability, and security of StubHub’s edge services. The engineer will design and operate CDN infrastructure and defenses against malicious automated traffic, build reusable infrastructure-as-code modules, connect edge services to fraud detection systems, and improve observability and performance. The role also involves evaluating emerging edge technologies and participating in incident response and root-cause analysis. The position is hybrid, with three days in the office and two days remote, based in New York, NY; Century City, CA; or Aliso Viejo, CA.

Requirements

Expert-level experience with AWS edge and networking services, including CloudFront, WAF, Route 53, Shield, and Global Accelerator.
Expert-level proficiency with Terraform and production infrastructure-as-code patterns.
Deep experience implementing or operating enterprise-grade bot management platforms, such as HUMAN, AWS Bot Control, Cloudflare Bot Management, or Akamai Bot Manager.
Advanced knowledge of HTTP, CDN caching strategies, edge compute functions such as Lambda@Edge, and TLS management.
Strong software development experience in a modern programming language such as Python, Go, TypeScript, or Java.
A track record of building safe, observable, and performant infrastructure at scale.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with building and scaling fraud prevention systems or integrating with fraud intelligence platforms.
Experience authoring real-time request evaluation logic at the edge.
Familiarity with HTTP/2, QUIC, and emerging transport protocols for low-latency content delivery.
Familiarity with custom device fingerprinting, rate limiting, and CAPTCHA challenge orchestration.
Experience supporting traffic segmentation, geo-steering, or multi-CDN architecture.
Background in high-scale event collection and processing for edge analytics.
Proficiency in implementing defense-in-depth mechanisms for Layer 7 attacks.
Proficiency in building distributed rate-limiting or request-scoring systems.
Familiarity with secure system design and zero-trust architecture principles.
Contributions to open-source projects in edge, networking, or observability.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and operate CDN infrastructure using AWS CloudFront, Global Accelerator, bot management, and related services.
Develop scalable systems to detect and mitigate malicious automated traffic using commercial bot management platforms and in-house controls.
Create reusable Infrastructure as Code modules that enable other teams to deploy edge services safely and consistently.
Integrate with fraud detection pipelines to inform real-time blocking or scoring decisions at the edge.
Collaborate with security and platform teams to enforce zero-trust controls, request validation, and origin shielding.
Integrate CDN and bot management application coverage into existing developer platform software and automation products.
Drive edge observability strategy using metrics, traces, and logs to detect anomalies and optimize performance.
Evaluate and implement technologies such as edge compute, rate-limiting frameworks, and multi-CDN failover strategies.
Participate in incident response and root-cause analysis for edge service outages or abuse-related escalations.
