About The Position

Fastly’s Security Products group develops and maintains security products that customers rely on to secure their infrastructure. The company is seeking a full-time backend engineer with experience developing web applications, primarily using Go. Experience with other languages such as C or Rust is useful. The role is remote and open to candidates residing in North America. The engineer will work during core US business hours and participate in an on-call rotation. Travel may be required as needed for the role or at the manager’s request.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of enterprise software development experience.
• Knowledge of HTTP and related networking protocols, such as Varnish and H2O.
• Strong interest in network security.
• Hands-on experience developing and operating backend systems for web applications.
• Experience working in a collaborative, distributed team environment.
• Linux, automation, and shell scripting skills.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience building security solutions.
• Expertise in building in Kubernetes.
• Experience managing hybrid cloud environments, including data centers and public clouds.
• Experience with other programming languages, such as C or Rust.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend systems for large-scale web applications in Go as part of a team.
• Write clean, modular, robust code that implements requirements.
• Communicate with team members and across technical and product teams.
• Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and other team processes.
• Optimize code and tune performance.
