About The Position

Independence Pet Holdings, established in 2021, is a corporate holding company managing a diverse portfolio of pet health brands and services across North America. We aim to simplify the pet parenting journey and improve pet well-being through innovative solutions. Our multi-brand, omni-channel approach includes our own insurance carrier, insurance brands, and partner brands. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of scalable web applications for PetPlace's Shelter platform. This role involves hands-on full-stack development, technical leadership, architecture guidance, and mentorship, utilizing technologies such as React, TypeScript, .NET/C#, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and modern API-driven solutions.

Requirements

  • Senior-level experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web application development.
  • Strong React experience
  • Experience with at least one full-stack React framework (Next.js, Remix, React Router 7, SvelteKit, etc.) — familiarity with SSR, file-based routing, and server/client boundaries is the key transferable skill
  • Strong .NET/C# development experience and experience building server-side applications with Node.js.
  • Experience designing and optimizing PostgreSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with Drizzle ORM
  • Strong experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
  • Strong understanding of Git workflows, pull requests, branching strategies, and code reviews.
  • Ability to write maintainable, scalable, and well-documented code.
  • Experience working with and evolving existing codebases and architectures.
  • Strong understanding of software design principles, architecture patterns, and security best practices.
  • Ability to evaluate technical trade-offs and deliver pragmatic solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable web applications.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to developers.
  • Review solution designs and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture.
  • Participate in PI Planning and collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Promote development standards, code quality, and engineering best practices.
  • Conduct code reviews and contribute to architectural and technical decision-making.
