About The Position

Selector is building an operational intelligence platform for digital infrastructure. Its AI/ML-based analytics platform provides actionable insights to network, cloud, and application operators, helping operations teams meet KPIs through collaboration, conversational search, and automated data engineering pipelines. The platform serves organizations across multiple industries, including telecom, media, health care, finance, retail, professional sports, and Fortune 500 enterprises. This backend-heavy role focuses on solving complex data and systems problems and deploying production work in customer environments. The engineer will build and maintain ETL pipelines, data models, integrations, and backend systems, applying agentic AI workflows to infrastructure data. The role also includes technical leadership and mentorship, direct customer engagement to understand data and operating environments, and translating customer requirements into tailored technical solutions. Responsibilities span hands-on integration and deployment, customer enablement, pre-sales and proof-of-concept work, and communicating customer feedback to product and engineering teams.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
3–7 years of professional experience in a technical or engineering role, including experience owning systems end to end.
Strong Python coding skills and deep experience building ETL pipelines and working with complex data structures.
Demonstrated technical leadership experience, such as leading projects, mentoring engineers, or setting technical direction.
Working knowledge of public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Hands-on experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Strong SQL skills for data extraction and analysis.
Experience with or strong interest in agentic AI workflows and applying them to real-world engineering problems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and experience in a customer-facing environment.
Solid understanding of networking concepts such as data centers, WAN, and DNS/DHCP.
Self-starter attitude and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Nice To Haves

Exposure to Ansible or Go.
Familiarity with Jupyter notebooks.

Responsibilities

Design, write, and maintain production-grade Python or Go code for ETL pipelines, data models, and platform integrations.
Apply agentic AI workflows to automate data engineering, correlation, and root-cause analysis across complex infrastructure data.
Provide technical leadership on architecture and design decisions, setting technical direction for backend systems and integrations.
Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, review code, and help raise the team's technical bar.
Build backend logic that connects Selector's platform to customer data sources, APIs, and existing tooling.
Work directly with customers to understand data structures, workflows, and analytics requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Lead hands-on integration and deployment of Selector's platform to meet customer requirements, partnering with sales and customer teams.
Help customers become enabled to use and make basic self-serve extensions of Selector's capabilities.
Drive pre-sales activities and proof-of-concept builds, shaping technical strategy with the sales team.
Document customer feedback and translate it into concrete product and engineering improvement proposals.
