About The Position

Deploy is an intelligence infrastructure platform that provides developers and enterprises access to open-source and proprietary AI models. The company operates an optimized inference engine for leading open-source LLMs and offers proprietary models for content safety, AI and deepfake detection, sponsorship intelligence, and intellectual property and publicity protection. The Senior Software Engineer will build and launch backend products and features, working autonomously and tackling challenges of scale. The role focuses on developing core services and web-based APIs, contributing to product direction, and producing clean, maintainable code. The engineer will work across REST APIs, microservices, data ingestion and processing, and distributed task and job processing systems. The role also involves improving engineering practices and security, testing, production debugging, and participating in on-call rotations as needed.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience building scalable web applications.
Experience or a strong interest in writing applications in Node.js.
Experience designing and implementing highly available distributed systems or microservices.
Experience building platforms that expose scalable backend APIs.
Deep experience with relational databases; Postgres is preferred.
Strong belief in high code quality, automated testing, and other engineering best practices.
Attention to detail and a passion for correctness.
Comfort with ambiguity and scoping solutions with teammates.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a bias toward action.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, or improve features in backend systems, including REST APIs, microservices, data ingestion and processing systems, and distributed task and job processing systems.
Write and maintain scalable, performant, secure code that can be shared across platforms.
Contribute to the product and core backend systems by suggesting and executing improvements.
Improve engineering standards, tooling, processes, and security.
Practice test-driven development.
Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.
Participate in on-call rotations as needed to resolve critical technical issues promptly and effectively.
Use OWASP Top 10 techniques to secure code against vulnerabilities.
Maintain awareness of industry best practices for data maintenance and handling relevant to the role.
Follow policies, guidelines, and procedures for protecting information assets.
Report actual or suspected security or policy violations or breaches to an appropriate authority.
