About The Position
Apple is seeking a Software Engineer to help develop the next generation of cloud services infrastructure for Apple Services Engineering’s iCloud Platform. The role contributes to critical iCloud components and new foundational capabilities that support the development of new applications and the growth of services such as CloudKit, FaceTime, and Push Notifications, which underpin products including iCloud Photos, Drive, and Backup. The engineer will help design, build, and grow Apple’s privacy-focused foundational platform, enabling Apple applications and experiences for more than a billion users. The work includes partnering across Apple to deliver new ecosystem experiences, improving service scalability, availability, and performance, evolving platform design and architecture, and working with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to investigate and resolve production issues.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of professional experience designing, implementing, and operating highly scalable distributed systems.
- Industry experience with programming languages such as Java, Swift, C/C++, or Go.
- Experience in performance benchmarking, debugging, and tuning distributed systems.
- Experience with cloud deployment and observability technologies, such as Kubernetes.
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field or equivalent related experience.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with diverse groups of people.
- Experience managing technical and organizational complexity and driving a project from a simple idea to production.
- Ability to approach problems with curiosity and flexibility to find innovative solutions.
- Understanding of cryptographic protocols, data encryption, secure key management, and security architecture.
Responsibilities
- Partner with teams across Apple to develop features and functionality that enable new experiences in the Apple ecosystem.
- Improve the scalability, availability, and performance of services.
- Evolve the design and architecture to support continued growth across multiple dimensions.
- Partner with SRE to triage, investigate, and remediate production issues.
