Enterprise - Senior Software Engineer - Linux, C/C++, Python

Erias Ventures•Annapolis Junction, MD

About The Position

Erias Ventures is seeking a Software Engineer to develop, maintain, enhance, and port complex software capabilities based on Product Group and mission stakeholder needs. The engineer will work on a small team, deliver iteratively, and coordinate closely with operational test and production experts through the customer TRR/ORR process, resolving identified defects. The role contributes to system design decisions, including reuse-versus-build trade-offs, tradecraft dependencies, foundational tool integration, and compliance with enterprise data-flow and schema standards. The position involves analyzing ARM architecture and communicating objective-system behavior to stakeholders and teammates; implementing software in a CI/CD methodology using GitLab; deriving capability functional and quality requirements from operational and platform-integration needs; and debugging software and system defects at a low level. The engineer designs solutions for resource-constrained environments, writes or reviews software and system documentation, and assists with developing and executing software-component test procedures. Clear communication with engineers, stakeholders, and customers is expected. A current Top-Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph is required. Candidates cannot be sponsored or nominated for a government security clearance for this position. The stated expected salary range is $225,000–$275,000, depending on education and years of experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university; alternatively, four additional years of SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may substitute for the degree.
  • Twenty years of experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity; four additional years of SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Six years of experience coding in C, C++, or assembly.
  • Four years of experience in software reverse engineering.
  • Current Top-Secret/SCI security clearance with polygraph; candidates cannot be sponsored or nominated for a government security clearance under this position.
  • Proficiency in one or more stated capabilities, including software design and performance requirements analysis, software debugging and porting, documentation, software development, constrained-algorithm design, vulnerability analysis, reverse engineering, IDE use, and unit testing.
  • Proficiency in one or more stated software development areas, including Linux application development, C/C++, Objective-C, ARM assembly (Thumb, 32-bit, or 64-bit), Python, and reverse engineering using IDApro or Ghidra.
  • Proficiency in one or more stated technology or engineering areas, including system integration, COTS/GOTS applications, AI-assisted development, design verification, troubleshooting and debugging, and test methodology.
  • Familiarity with Wi-Fi, wireless/RF, and networking basics.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in a team environment with engineers, stakeholders, and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, enhance, and port software capabilities based on Product Group and mission stakeholder needs.
  • Work as part of a small team, deliver iteratively, and coordinate with operational test and production experts through the customer TRR/ORR process, resolving identified defects.
  • Provide input to software components of system design, including reuse/build trade-offs, tradecraft dependencies, foundational tool integration, and adherence to enterprise data-flow and schema standards.
  • Comply with documented organizational test and release processes.
  • Examine and document ARM architecture and communicate objective-system behavior to stakeholders and teammates.
  • Implement development using CI/CD methodology and GitLab for builds and merges.
  • Analyze operational requirements and foundational platform-integration requirements to design and derive capability functional and quality requirements.
  • Perform low-level debugging of software and system defects.
  • Design and implement software solutions for resource-restricted environments, typically in Objective-C or C++.
  • Write or review software and system documentation.
  • Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
  • Communicate clearly with fellow engineers, stakeholders, and customers.
  • Analyze user cases and mission user stories to derive software design and performance requirements.
  • Debug or port existing software, correct defects, and update versions.
  • Author, design, and code new software or modify existing software to add features and support execution.
  • Design or implement complex algorithms subject to strict timing, resource, or interface constraints.
  • Recommend technologies and processes for complex software projects.
  • Develop software solutions based on system performance analysis, collaboration with users and system engineers, data flow and business processes, and fault resolution.
  • Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards in resource-constrained environments.
  • Confer with System Engineers and Reverse Engineers to derive software requirements and obtain information about project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
  • Work with complex or proprietary databases and data repositories.
  • Identify software vulnerabilities, develop exploits, and produce production-quality software based on developed exploits.
  • Disassemble binaries using Ghidra or a similar reverse-engineering tool, and perform process-level debugging using WinDbg, SoftICE, gdb, or a similar debugger.
  • Use a software IDE such as Visual Studio, Eclipse, or a similar tool.
  • Develop and execute unit tests.
  • Contribute to system integration of internally developed server and UI components, COTS/GOTS applications, AI-assisted or leveraged development, system-design verification, troubleshooting and debugging, and thorough test methodology, as applicable to the engineer’s proficiency.
