The Office of Innovation & Technology (OIT) is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their reimagined Software Engineering group. This role is part of a talented team reshaping how the City develops, procures, and maintains custom software. The projects have a significant impact, ranging from operating and extending the City's website, phila.gov, to building the City’s Campaign Finance tracking system and world-class GIS applications. The team uses modern tooling, develops standards and frameworks, and fosters a highly collaborative and productive environment. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work on critical business and resident-facing applications, collaborating with UX professionals, content strategists, and other members of the Digital Services team. Your leadership will guide the implementation of City standards for phila.gov. You will be primarily responsible for building new features on the headless CMS, Directus, and the frontend PhilaUI Vue.js application as part of a migration from the current WordPress implementation. You will also work with stakeholders across various departments to design solutions from both a technical and process perspective. As a Senior Engineer, you are expected to mentor other engineers, provide a safe space for code reviews, and foster a collaborative work environment. The City of Philadelphia has the largest GitHub organization among cities, works in the open, and leverages open-source tools and cloud infrastructure to improve online interactions with City government.
