About The Position

The ENG Cloud Native Compute Services Platform team owns shared components and services used to build managed, multi-tenant platforms on Kubernetes. These Managed Compute components provide the foundation for self-service platforms supporting AI workloads, Spark, streaming with Flink, workflows with Argo, and Bloomberg’s Platform as a Service. The infrastructure is built in Go and runs on Kubernetes, supporting tenant environments, authentication and access control, resource deployment, and consistent user experiences through shared cloud-native design patterns. The team builds on open-source technologies, including Kubernetes, Karmada, Docker, Istio, and OPA Agent, and contributes to cloud-native runtime platforms that support the Bloomberg Data Science Platform. The role involves building and scaling infrastructure across Kubernetes APIs, resource management, security, and observability, while collaborating with engineers across CNCS and AI organizations and contributing to open source. Examples of projects include managed Karmada multi-cluster orchestration and federation; a unified interface for Cloud Native Compute Services runtimes; APIs for platform capability discovery and resource metrics; and quota allocation integrations and self-service interfaces for Kubernetes runtime clusters.

Requirements

At least 4 years working with an object-oriented programming language such as Go, C++, Python, or Java.
A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a similar field, or equivalent work experience.
Good communication skills for interacting within and outside the team, including with stakeholders, customers, and users, and discussing ideas and solutions clearly.
Self-motivation to identify problems and provide solutions independently.
Curiosity about how things work and a desire to continuously learn, improve, and share knowledge.
Experience operating infrastructure in production.
Hands-on software engineering or SRE experience.
Strong desire to learn and build cloud-native infrastructure using Golang and the Kubernetes ecosystem.

Experience building and scaling container-based systems using Kubernetes.
Passion for providing reliable and scalable enterprise-wide infrastructure.
