About The Position

BILT Incorporated is a fast-growing software-as-a-service company revolutionizing instructions and training for consumers and professional technicians alike. BILT creates official 3D Intelligent Instructions® for thousands of products from hundreds of innovative brands and hosts them on a free mobile app. Users can manipulate interactive animations on a touchscreen, providing superior training differentiator for products that require assembly, installation, maintenance, programming, or repair. BILT’s mission is to create an experience so enabling and empowering that it turns users into promoters of the brands we serve. Our HQ is located in the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex between DFW airport and the Southlake Town Square. BILT transforms complex assembly, installation, training, and maintenance processes into interactive 3D guided experiences. BILT partners with leading manufacturers, retailers, and enterprise organizations to reduce support costs, improve customer experience, accelerate onboarding, and drive operational efficiency through immersive visual instruction technology.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated full-stack ownership
  • Hands-on experience designing and operating distributed systems — service-to-service communication, async/event-driven pipelines, state and consistency trade-offs at scale
  • Experience building production systems with AI/ML "in the loop"
  • Direct experience with agentic application development, with the appetite to help push the practice forward rather than only follow existing playbooks
  • Track record of being product-minded: comfortable talking to customers and end users directly, translating their needs into technical requirements
  • Proven ability to plan and scope large, ambiguous features — breaking them into milestones and driving them to delivery with minimal oversight
  • Disciplined engineering practices: strong preference for conventions, code quality, testing practice and process appropriate to a small team
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation, design docs, and cross-functional collaboration

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building or operating ML/AI training and inference pipelines beyond LLMs, especially with visual or 3D-based systems.
  • Experience with 3D applications, either in-browser or native.
  • DevOps / infrastructure-as-code / SRE experience — CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, containers, observability and on-call ownership
  • Experience instrumenting products for telemetry and product analytics, and using that data to guide roadmap or model-improvement decisions
  • Experience in regulated or compliance-sensitive environments such as NIST 800-171, CMMC, etc.
  • Contributions to or familiarity with 3D standards like GLTF, USD, STEP, etc.
  • Prior work on 3D configurators, digital twins, or technical/instructional content specifically.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build full-stack features across our web-based editor, backend services, and the AI agent pipelines that generate and refine instruction content
  • Work on distributed, event-driven systems that coordinate multi-stage AI processing (content extraction, instruction generation, animation solving) at scale
  • Build and improve agentic, AI-in-the-loop workflows — including the conversational, MCP-powered editor experience — pushing the practice of agentic application development forward rather than just applying established patterns
  • Partner directly with customers, SMEs, and internal users to understand workflows and translate ambiguous, open-ended problems into scoped, sequenced technical plans
  • Take large, loosely-defined features from concept to shipped: propose architecture, break work into milestones, and drive it through review and rollout
  • Collaborate closely with the R&D team on the boundary between application code and ML/AI systems
  • Champion engineering discipline — code quality, conventions, testing, documentation — appropriate to a small, fast-moving team without heavyweight process
  • Write clear technical documentation and communicate trade-offs and progress to engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders

Benefits

  • Convenient parking and nearby amenities
